Players offline when rewards are earned in shared worlds?

For players in shared worlds who are offline when a reward is earned, is it possible for them to repeat the task and earn the reward as well? I beat the infected ladybug in the haze lab, but none of my friends were online to earn the Truffle Shuffle mutation.
