Twiggyskulls
Playing through the game, while the characters are nice and all, I feel that it would be nice to be able to create my own custom character (I wanted more of a punky/unruly kid to see, which I saw on the milk carton while playing). This would help players create more of a sense of identity within the game. Seeing as the game is already full released and fleshed out, it would be hard to implement now, unless you took those incorporated characters, and made them solely for single player mode. In multiplayer it would be nice to create a more customizable character. Voicing might be a trick as well, unless they could take the existing character voice overs, and leave in the more generic lines so that the player could also pick their voice type (obviously taking out the ones that use name references in them). This would also open up the option for multiplayer to then hopefully have more than just 4 players to a server on it as well (I have more than 4 friends that I would like to be able to play with!). On a public server could you imagine there being "backyard gangs" that have rivalries with each other?!?
SleepyCatten
I came here to post something similar myself I'd want to implement something as follows: Add an option for all players to select a custom character or a pre-made character. Custom characters would be genderless, but with clothing/body/hair/voice customisations that range from masculine to feminine, with all options in between. Custom characters would also have a trait to match existing characters' personalities, which would make generic voicing without names easier. The aim should be to make the custom characters as accessible and intersectional as possible. Gamers come in all shapes and sizes, all genders, all colours, all ethnicities, etc. If this is adding too much work for your small development team, make it a community challenge. Give us the tools and guides to add new characters ourselves. Let us put in our time to improve the game.
