Gutterkat Posted November 10, 2022 Posted November 10, 2022 Hello, loving the game so far by the way! One design choice that has been bothering me is melee combat vs. flying enemies, more specifically perfect parrying them. When blocking a flying enemy, the enemy stays within range briefly, but you don't get that parry stun opening. However when parrying them, while the enemy does get briefly stunned, they are also pushed farther away from the player. The distance created from the parry does grant the player the opportunity to run away from the flying enemy, but it also removes the damage opportunity that parries grant, unintentionally punishing the melee player for parrying them. Solution: Parrying a flying enemy briefly lowers the enemies flying height while retaining the parry stun. While this slightly reduces that opportunity for running away, it doesn't remove it entirely given that the enemy is stunned. It does however give melee players an option to fight flying enemies and no longer punishes the player for parrying. I understand that range attacks like bows exist for the player, but I just wanted to offer 1 option for countering flying enemies with melee. This helps greatly as a solo player because you don't have to switch back and forth between weapons while worrying about blocking their attacks in time. Thanks for your time! 1
