morgoniustwonk Posted October 22, 2022 Posted October 22, 2022 After downloading the latest patch, I was noticeably faster at running, which included the Natural Explorer (3/3) perk enabled. However, as soon as I attack or damage any creature in the game, I am PERMANENTLY penalized with a 500% slow to BOTH Running AND Walking. A footbridge I built takes me only 5 seconds to run across in the new patch prior to damaging any creature. However, once I've attacked any creature in the game, that same bridge now takes me 25 seconds to cross while running. That is an insane 5x speed nerf... and its permanent... even if I sleep in my bed, or re-log, or anything. The only fix is to load a save file BEFORE I damage any creature, and then not to engage in combat ever... if a bug attacks me, the only thing I can do is run away, because if I fight back, suddenly I'm moving a a crawling speed. PLEASE FIX THIS !!! 3
FAAF Posted October 22, 2022 Posted October 22, 2022 Confirmed. I too have this problem. I first noticed when killing a grub, my movement speed was drastically reduced after killing it. It's a hidden debuff that goes away after a time. It can also go away with sleep. I shot a glint beetle with a crossbow and had the same issue. It also happens when I fight termites. It did NOT happen when I fought and killed a red worker ant near my base.
FAAF Posted October 22, 2022 Posted October 22, 2022 1 hour ago, FAAF said: It can also go away with sleep. It doesn't always go away with sleep. I've had it go away when I defeat the bug that is agro on me, but that seems to be the case only with aggressive bugs. Neutral bugs, if you don't kill it (like the scarab getting shot once and then escaping) the debuff doesn't seem to go away until something triggers the bug to despawn (like leaving the biome?). I killed a weevil and the debuff didn't go away when it died and the debuff didn't go away with sleep. I tried going to the oak tree to break the debuff, but it only seemed to turn off when a wolf spider became aggro'd on me. The debuff ceased at that point and I ran back to my base. Since this movement speed debuff makes fighting impractical, I'm going to be studying this glitch until it gets patched. Not much else I can do... 2
Arash Amini Posted October 23, 2022 Posted October 23, 2022 Same for me. I hit any non aggressive creatures and I am a snail unless I leave the biome or an aggressive creature agros onto me. Honestly so tired of the game getting ruined more and more with each ”patch”. I am just going to put Grounded away for a while until I forget how fun it used to be before all the patch nerfs... 2
ca1oXD Posted October 23, 2022 Posted October 23, 2022 Same problem here, I get very slow when i attack some creature. 1
MarshMahalo Posted October 23, 2022 Posted October 23, 2022 Having the same problem with a game with friends. Happens when you get into combat while having natural explorer, which normally resolves if you finish the fight (not always). Although, hitting a passive bug and letting it live or killing it, will lock this issue for a very long time. It's almost as if having natural explorer is giving the player its respective % move speed buff as a negative debuff instead (level 3 natural explorer -50% move speed). Tested it out with friends that don't have the mutation active, go into combat and run side by side, which looks like they are moving twice as fast as me at base move speed. 1
Fried IT Guy Posted October 23, 2022 Posted October 23, 2022 I’m also experiencing this issue in a game with friends. I noticed that when the entire group attacked the same creature, the issue didn’t occur. However, if only one member of the group went into combat, that person would have the issue and everyone else would be ok. Not sure if it happens this way every time or not, as I spent most of yesterday trying to figure out what started it at all. I’ve tried all sorts of things to remove the debuff, and the only thing I’ve gotten to work consistently is getting stuck in a spider web. This has worked for multiple teammates, in at least the last 4 times we’ve had the issue occur. However, I’m not going to rule out that it could be a coincidence until I have time to test more. 1
H4ppyrekku Posted October 23, 2022 Posted October 23, 2022 I also have this problem. Every time i attack something i just get slowed. Found out that if i take natural explorer off it doesnt happen anymore. 1
FAAF Posted October 23, 2022 Posted October 23, 2022 More test results... The speed debuff related to attacking a bug is related to disabling "the quickness". Summary so far... If you don't have an item or status that includes that buff, then you don't notice the change. Once you attack an insect, "the quickness" appears to be disabled. It's not until you defeat an "angry" type bug that it turns off. If you've attacked a "neutral" or "harmless" bug but failed to kill them you have to despawn the damaged bug (leave the biome for example). If you've killed the neutral or harmless bug, you have to trigger a new angry bug to re-enable the quickness (without attacking the angry bug, otherwise you've started the whole process over again and have to kill the angry bug). My results are observation based, so they may be somewhat inaccurate.
flapjacknakky Posted October 24, 2022 Posted October 24, 2022 Fix for this as far as i've noticed is to attack a hostile bug and defeat or lose its aggro. If you have the custom setting for bugs to ignore you on then you have to turn it off and fight to fix.
