slocoj
I'm sure plenty have been mentioned, but I think it's nice that the game has so much 'content' from real life that can be added, in the form of habitats and enemies. I'd love to see the reaction of my partner playing the game after an update, walking casually over a leaf on the ground and the next moment it pops up behind him and he's bundled up by a trapdoor spider. Curtain webs could be an aerial traversal type area, where certain threads tell the spider where you are. Jumping spiders could have a molt cycle where normally when you enter their territory you're pretty vulnerable, but over time you see them plump up and the abdomen darken - then they retreat to their 'hammock' and are especially vulnerable. Could even be a source of resources, where the bigger they get the bigger the 'blade' you get in the form of their fangs - but of course the harder they are to avoid and the larger their territory gets. Or you could involve one of the few social spider species - where mum brings food for the spiderlings (maybe not the ones that practice matriphagy in this case). If the player catches a sac pre-hatch, and takes out mum, they could provide food for the remaining few eggs with legs and have spider minions up to a certain age or something. Obviously there are tonnes of options in the invertebrate world! I just like how varied spiders/arachnids are in their behaviours and therefore what they can offer in the game. Though there could even be the odd hermit crab (discarded pet) and other similar species often kept as pets. There could be quests where you find a giant flyer for someone looking for their pet that got out, and you have to guide it to a trap near their backdoor or something. Plenty of insectivores that could be an option with, for one.
