My save files disappear after every loadup of the game. I've verified Steam files, I have no mods installed, I am playing on version 5.0, I have reinstalled countless times and tried deleting saves, etc. It just keeps rebounding with me loading up the menu and the 'load saves' button greyed out. So the Steam build maybe isn't detecting I have save files? Because i definitely do have them in the file location.
