What if raids were a thing were red ants attack your base, probably based on where your sleeping area is or the workbench you use the most. You would be warned of a raid because there will be a drizzle that day that is implied to wash the ants out of the ant hill which is why they are being aggressive the following night.  

apparently in the very first versions of the game there were base attacks from various bugs, but they removed this. I think it would be great if they added it back, giving us a purpose to use base defenses and design it certain ways. 

I was one of the first players of grounded and it's true if you attacked a worker ant and didn't finish it. It would make a group of soldier ants attack your base.
