Hello, i am glad i can write to you, i have played elder scrolls for such a long time and one thing i have always felt is that playing a character fully reliant on magic skills felt not only weak at the beginning but also all the way through. Which does not make the player feel like a powerful hero. I would now like to list some of the bigger issues.

1. Having to recast defensive spells within a minute and applying again, i would prefer defensive spell that lasted for lets say 15mins instead. Also speaking about defensive spells, you really do need a visual indicator from the spell itself showing you that its about to wear off so your not walking and checking the duration all the time, When the spell is taking damage / about to reach max damage it can absorb you could see this glass breaking effect from inside the shield spell "Shell" so for example an enemy hits your shield spell with a sword you see it chip / crack etc..

2. Scaling magic power with the enemy's in your surroundings - how do i know if I'm strong enough? what information do i have?

3. Balance of spell progression VS mystery magic or finding rare magic, you should be able to find what you need, but more powerful magic your lucky enough to find would be better.

4. Dealing with Melee vs your magic energy / Magic pool, and Hit-points, Often melee have very strong hit-points and your health is nowhere near the same, that creates a problem if melee gets too close, so you need some sort of power that gives you a chance - you could make a bright light to dazzle the eyes and make them following you harder, or you can have this energy shield you have to move with your mouse to block a sword / weapon hit kinetically. (Again you must be able to know if your power is scaling up to your environment)

5. Getting advanced, allow the player to have such a mastery of magic that you can enter your own pocket plane, change the landscape to your suiting, and i think the most fun tapping into vast amount of mysterious energy that lets you have powers that you can't learn from a trainer in game.

Thank you, hope you enjoy. :-)
