Missing file; can't launch the launcher

I can't seem to use the Epic Games launcher.  I keep on getting an error message that tells me that I missing the file....

api-ms-downlevel-kernal32-12-1-0.dll

.... and that I should reinstall it if I want the launcher to work.

I, of course, have no clue what this is, where it is _supposed_ to be, or how it came to be missing.  In the meantime, I can't get into my Epic Library (it's on the _other_ side of the launcher) to check out the new Murder On Eridanos DLC.

Any help on how I can rectify this problem ASAP will be GREATLY appreciated.

Configure browser push notifications
Chrome (Android)
  1. Tap the lock icon next to the address bar.
  2. Tap Permissions → Notifications.
  3. Adjust your preference.
Chrome (Desktop)
  1. Click the padlock icon in the address bar.
  2. Select Site settings.
  3. Find Notifications and adjust your preference.
