Vertical surface anchors/foundations [Suggestion]

It would be nice to build a stairway up the side of the oak tree or a garden wall, and stacking stairs on foundations just doesn't have the right look.  How about platforms or scaffolds that anchor into/against vertical surfaces and can snap as much as a level up/down/over?
