Failed download, file size increasing

I'm trying to download The Outer Worlds through epic game store and the file size keep increasing. Once I get to about 20gb/49gb the total file size increases from 49 to like 96gb and this will just keep repeating. It consistently does this at about 30% download. I have tried uninstalling and re installing three times as well as rebooting my PC. I've never had this issue with a game or with Epic. I've found a few reddit posts and other forums posts about this topic, but no solutions. Also my first forum post ever, so please forgive any mistakes.

 

 

this is one post i've found regarding this issue, but it doesn't really provide any help

Configure browser push notifications
Chrome (Android)
  1. Tap the lock icon next to the address bar.
  2. Tap Permissions → Notifications.
  3. Adjust your preference.
Chrome (Desktop)
  1. Click the padlock icon in the address bar.
  2. Select Site settings.
  3. Find Notifications and adjust your preference.
