Character Progress Lost On Re-joining

I'm playing on PC through steam and every time I join my friend's game the progress I had made previously is wiped. My items are gone, my mutation progress is reset, and I load in at the beginning with no items. I believe this was  an issue back in the previous patch for some people but thought it had been fixed. The loss of the mutation progress is particularly disheartening as any progress I've made is wiped when I log. Anyone else experiencing this or know of a fix?

I have lost a lot of items I have crafted and made and thought it was fixed as well but it still loads me in with everything wiped. So whoever’s world we mainly go in, I try and drop all of my gear in a chest before I leave so I know at least all of that will still be there. The mutation though, as of right now, I don’t have a work around for that. It’s still really annoying because there have been times I did not get to drop my stuff off in a chest and was either kicked out or my game froze and I lost everything. So frustrating!! I hope that this gets fixed. I love this game so far, but it’s making it hard to play with others when I always run the risk of losing all the progress I make in someone else’s game.
