Arrow slots in walls and floors

A construction option I'd like would be a wall with narrow slots for firing arrows at nearby enemies. In some places this would be preferable to broad open windows, since an enemy might be able to reach in at you through a window. Also, a similar floor opening for firing downward from balconies!

Have you tried to build with the current window situation?  I shot through those but prefer the vast open space of a tower. :)
