Cannot load because of missing dlc

You guys seem to have lost your minds.   Having to fill this out again, because when you sign up ... it erases everything you start with.  Awesome! 

As the title says, and in what appears to be a common problem, I played the game over the weekend and now ... I cannot load my games because I am missing DLC I did not purchase and do not want to purchase.  I'd just like to be able to play the game that I actually purchased, awesome right?  Well, turns out I am not the first to have this problem and no one bothered to post an actual fix with the issue.  So awesome!
