Felix "died" when never taken out, and now is no longer usable

When I am in the ship, Felix has 0 health listed in his character details, but I can still equip gear for him. Though he is nowhere to be found.

When we leave the ship, he drops dead and I get a "Felix has left the party" message. I haven't used him at all yet on a mission so he would have never had the opportunity to die yet.

Pretty frustrating 15 hours into a Supernova run. Is there a solution to this, or hopefully the patch will correct it?
