Constantly exiting the game to desktop

I'm not getting crashes.  Maybe it's because I'm new to Windows 10 but it seems like randoms things like right clicking forces my game to the desktop in a way similar to Alt+tab.  This happens in the middle of combat and since the game won't pause I keep dying because i'm staring at my desktop while hearing combat sounds.  Most of the time it instead sends me into a semi-windowed mode that's non-interactive. It's like I clicked around the edges of the game and it interprets that as me wanting to leave. I remember windows 8 had these baffling gestures, which is why I went to 7 until I needed 10 for Outer Worlds.
