Game freezes within five minutes

My Steam copy of PoE hasn't been working since the new Win10 Update.  I'm near the very beginning of the game, and always within five minutes the game freezes.  I can Ctrl+Alt+Del out of it.  Re-installing the files doesn't help.  I seem to be having the same issue with Deadfire, so I can't even get past the opening cutscene.

Can anyone help me?
