Pre-order bonus items missing
Belgeval replied to Belgeval's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
I did not back the game, only pre-ordered. So I actually never had those, I'm afraid... -
Pre-order bonus items missing
Belgeval replied to Belgeval's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
Oh? And how am I supposed to access the Beta or the 2017 version? I only see the option "Play". And if I go to the local archives, there's only the regular "PillarsOfEternity.exe". No different versions. Or maybe I'm just dumb and can't find them? Edit: Never mind, I just found out how to do it. It's actually the first time I need to do something like this. Thank you so much! Edit 2: It WORKS! Guys, I'm explaining how to fix it (only on Steam, unfortunately) for those who, like myself, are not used to fumble with Steam options: - Once the game is installed, go to your library, right-click on "Pillars of Eternity", go to Properties, then Beta, and finally, on the upper right dropdown, select anything but "none". If I understand correctly, "legacy" is the original game without any patches applied; "prev_update" is the last version before the current patch, which created this issue; and "public_beta" (the one I personally chose) is the playtest, still-in-the-works version of the upcoming patch, which apparently fixes many things and is pretty stable already. Not only does this option give you the bonus items if you start a new character: it also adds the items to any previous save game from the last version (the broken one). So, in case you started a game without the bonus items, they will be added to that game too. Nice! -
Pre-order bonus items missing
Belgeval replied to Belgeval's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
Nope. Still unfixed, unfortunately. I'm stuck out of the game because of this. I wanted to start a new game a while ago, and I wasn't able to because my collector OCD wouldn't let me play without the bonus items. The issue is both on Steam and GOG, as I own the game in both platforms. Latest news I got was, the devs knew about the issue and were going to fix it with their next patch - which they didn't know when would be out. Turns out, it's been seven months and still nothing. And my hype to start a new game just vanished. Oh well. -
Pre-order bonus items missing
Belgeval replied to Belgeval's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
I've just received an answer by Obsidian. They are already aware of this issue, which is affecting many people, and will address it in their new patch - which they don't know when will be released, but still. -
Pre-order bonus items missing

Thank you. Seeing that I'm not the only one to whom this is happening gives me some hopes. I figured out how to contact support almost immediately after writing this post :P. I have already asked them. Let's cross our fingers ^^". -
Belgeval started following Pre-order bonus items missing
-
So, today I started a new game after the last patch was installed, and I found out the pre-order ring and the blue pig are not in my inventory. Weirdly enough, they are still there in old saves/characters. Just to further clarify my situation: I originally pre-ordered Pillars of Eternity back when GOG.com didn't have automatic updates. I got my bonus thingies, and I haven't had a single problem all these years. I finally got sick of the no-auto-updates situation and bought the game on Steam (Hero Edition + White March Season Pass). This was on October 2016, so I don't really know if I should have gotten the pre-order bonus items; it was a looong time ago, and I don't really remember what was included in the version I bought. The fact of the matter is, I did get them. Oh well. Since then, I have only played my Steam version. Now, after the last update, I no longer have the bonus items when starting a new game, even if they are in my DLC menu, ticked and all. I decided to install my GOG.com version (which I did pre-purchase)... and I don't have them either! They appear ticked on my DLC menu too. Is this normal/a bug? How can I solve this? I know it doesn't seem to be that important, but I really want to have every possible piece of game content and I find this very frustrating. Also, how can I contact customer support? Thank you for your help :).

Canon difficulty? (if any)
Belgeval replied to Belgeval's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Yes, but as it seems, in Hard there are contradictions between what NPC tell you will encounter and what you actually end up encountering... -
Canon difficulty? (if any)
Belgeval replied to Belgeval's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Yes, Karkarov, you're totally right. I can be a little obsessive with silly things like this one. As "the difficulty select screen defaults at Easy, but Normal is Normal, but there is people who says it's Hard...". LOL. I am by no means a hardcore gamer (although I have played and completed all Infinity Engine titles at least once, in their "core rules" setting), so I'd like to play this game with a more RP-oriented, non min-maxed character, along with standard companions who are also not min-maxed. I usually don't shy off the harder difficulties, but for this particular case, I just wanted to know what the standard difficulty is. And I think I have opinions and facts enough to make up my mind about it. So thanks! -
Canon difficulty? (if any)
Belgeval replied to Belgeval's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
OK. I also suspected that Normal was the "true" difficulty, as Story Time mode is based on Normal (not Easy, strangely), but with rules favoring the player. Thanks! -
Canon difficulty? (if any)
Belgeval replied to Belgeval's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Thank you very much. The thing is, in the Prima Official game guide, they use Normal for their descriptions of encounters; however, I keep reading over and over that Hard mode is the game as the devs intended it to be originally played. It may be a little bit silly, but I was interested in knowing how the authors imagined the adventure in their minds (how many bears were really in the cave?). -
The Custom Portraits Thread
Belgeval replied to Namutree's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Hello. Amazing pieces of art I see around here! Here I have some custom portraits made by myself with some Photoshop and time to spare: This is Fornund Thornod, a mountain dwarf paladin of the Shieldbearers of St. Elcga. This is Samtharas Lothinian, a meadow folk priest of Eothas. I hope you like them! If so, I may post some more .- 811 replies

Hello everybody. I'd like to know if there is some sort of "canon" difficulty setting (or, how the devs envisioned the game to be). I know that in many cases, difficulty is a matter of preference/skill, but I am more interested in knowing what the original encounters for this game would be. Should I take it is Easy, as it's the default setting at the difficulty selection screen? Or Normal, as it's the setting Story Mode is based off? For some reason, some people think it is Hard... Also, Expert Mode on or off? Thank you very much!

Help with custom portraits
Belgeval replied to Belgeval's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Found it! Tank you so much! -
Hello everyone. I have just bought Pillars of Eternity from Steam and installed it. I am trying to add my own custom portraits to the game, and I know how to make the portrait files as I own the GOG.com version too. I have read guides on how to install them for Steam, and apparently, I need to put them into Steam\SteamApps\common\Pillars of Eternity\PillarsOfEternity_Data\data\art\gui\portraits\player\male or female. However, when I open Steam/SteamApps, the folder is completely empty! I cannot find Pillars of Eternity there. However, I can play the game normally. Is there anything I can do? Is this normal at all? I have even tried to create the folders manually, but it didn't work... Help would be much appreciated.
