  1. I've already posted this....but I think this game was slated for a later release. Most likely the publishers were pusing to get the game out the door....the developers might not have had a choice about the whole thing....so what can you do? As far as beta testing goes....who knows. But be aware of this...just becase a game has beta testers doesn't mean the developers have time to fix the bugs the testers discover. Also...don't know if you guys were aware of this or not....but sometimes, due to money issues or other issues, the development team does their own beta testing (meaning no testing done by gamers or people outside the development team)....So that's also a possibility. Think about it though...I mean...I'm frustrated with this buggy release too...but what is there to do? I'm sure the development team would have preferred to ship this game bug-free....Typically publishers don't care about whether the game has bugs or not. They ask "is it playable?". If the answer is yes....then out the door it goes...especially when the game is nearing it's slated release date or is past it. The rule is...if it's not a game-breaker...it's not a big enough problem to stop the game's release. The publisher has 1 goal...to make money. On the other hand, the developer wants to release a good game...so it's usually important to them that the game be playable and enjoyable... This particular game represents anywhere from one to three years of the blood, sweat, and tears of an obsidian development team. You can be frustrated that the game is buggy....but don't be frustrated about the lack of response from Obsidian....This title belongs to Lucas Arts and there isn't much that obsidian can do to help out. Recalls and patches are up to Lucas Arts.
  2. Hmmmm.....where to begin... 1. While fighting...if you wuss out and run away to heal yourself....then target an enemy and attack...your character will try to hit the target while facing the wrong direction....in other words, your character is facing the TV screen and the enemy is behind him/her...and the stupid character won't turn itself around. This may not be a bug...but it is annoying 2. Game completely freezes sometimes during game saves and loads as well as before, after, or during cutscenes. 3. Sometimes...after the game freeze...the xbox will start making a buzzing noise and you'll get a disc read error. 4. Save a game over an old game save and it will freeze up and render the save "damaged" and unuseable...so you'll have to load an earlier game save and lose progress. Doesn't happen all the time....but happens frequently enough for it to be a major problem. 5. White screen of death....the game is loading the next area and the screen goes white and refuses to finish loading....but there are glitchy words/graphics on-screen. 6. Check out the equip screen for a character with 2 weapons...1 in each hand...the left weapon will flicker.... 7. Equip Mira with 2 vibroswords or vibroblades...then upgrade them....go back to the equip screen....where'd the second vibro go??? Who knows....it disappeared. Check the upgrade screen again....the weapon is gone but you still have the upgrades in inventory....upgrade a different sword/blade and do it again...the weapon goes bye-bye. There are other glitches...but some are actually advantageous. I've heard of the hsiss glitch....I didn't know it was a glitch till I read about it....but I did find that one....was in that room and the 2 hsiss appeared and I tried to attack them and accidentally got the corpse a couple more times and ended up with a room full of hsiss.....oops. Barely made it out of that room alive.
  3. Most likely the developers knew the game was buggy before they released it. If I remember correctly, this was a late release, right? Wasn't it scheduled for an earlier release? Anyway...there was probably quite a bit of pressure to get the game into consumer hands...and when that happens, quality is typically sacrificed and the game goes out the door buggy. As a student, I've been taught that you should never release a buggy game...huge NO-NO....but when the publishers push...well...what can you do? Risk not getting paid or having the project canned just before release? Or push it out the door with problems....Tough choice. Gotta feed those families and after spending a couple of years on a project...well...you also kind of get sick of it. Anyway...that's probably why the devs aren't addressing the issue. Usually the development team is the one pushing for a later release so the game can be sent out as bug-free as possible...So it's probably not Obsidian who should be answering bug issues. Lucas Arts, most likely, is the company to complain to....though I've been to their forums as well and there's even less help there. I wouldn't bet on any additional US releases with bug fixes....nor any recalls. I guess if enough people made a fuss about the bugs....but even then, I don't know....considering how many people are already complaining...looks like the cost for recall would be pretty high.
