    Email from Obsidian:

We will be notifying backers very soon when they can start getting their keys through the Products Tab of their Account Profile. Once you receive that email you will be able to go to the Products Tab of your Account Profile (https://eternity.obsidian.net/account/products) and click on the Pillars of Eternity link. From there a dialog pop-up will come up asking you which platform you would like to have the key for (GoG or Steam). After you make your choice, you will be given your key and be good to go! If you have any further questions, please feel free to ask!

Thank you for your support and we look forward to you playing the game in just two days!

Is that an email your received?

I "slacker-backed" immediately following the kickstarter, so I was never sent any of those kickstarter emails.

I guess they might be doing the kickstarters first, then the "slacker-backers"?

Nope, that's most likely an answer to a support ticket.

    I didn't get such an e-mail neither.

Yes, that's the clarification email I got to the key debacle question. Obsidian responded pretty quick.

They haven't made any official announcement yet at all, have they? Before or after you received your email?

    That seems very odd.

I'm just glad that all I will have to do is go to my account profile to claim my KEY!

@KingNee I always wondered how those people who have nothing to do but post videos of themselfs playing games all day get sent keys??? It's not like lets say Obsedian goes: "Hmmm Bobby does spend a lot of time on youtube posting nonsens lets send him a key in a veigue attemt to sell more copys."

Got to be more to it!!!

Paradox generated 1000 steamkeys that they distributed to youtube let's players and twitch streamers.

They gave priority to people who had already been playing/streaming their other very recent title, Cities: Skylines.

The guy from the video above is called arumba. A quick youtube search of "arumba skylines" netted this:

So there is your explanation for why that guy got access.

And honestly, that makes smart business sense.
Only if you are a short term thinker. Long term, disrespecting your early backers in such a fashion is a very sure way to never get such finding again.

So true bro, the game did sail on the backs of early backers, why not give those selected few an early key as well!!!

  5. I know its a bit early, but I want to thank Obsidian team on the type of work and immersion I saw in the game. I was always a fan of Icewind Dale and after playing the latest Backer Beta I feel like I just went back in time but only the game is better now (2.0 if you will).

I remember during early kickstarter campaign I have requested immerse handling of corpses that shouldn't just vanish into thin air (like some games) and I am happy to report that I was heard and that they have delivered. The game is immersive and has a great narrative based off playing Backer Beta, no big bugs and great detail in combat.

You are the best Obsidian Thank you!!!

  6. I will answer your questions as best as I can:

    1) Will the animations for skills and abilities differ

There's a very high probability that abilities will have their own animations, but will be often reused.

    2) how will enemies react to being hit with a strong attack

    Hit reaction animation.

"You (or an enemy) can choose to break Engagement, but if you're hit with a Disengagement Attack, it does more damage and you stop to play a hit reaction (unless you're a barbarian using Wild Sprint)."

    http://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3506352&userid=0&perpage=40&pagenumber=473#post419367474

    3) being equipped with a shield (will it break)

The shield will not break most likely.

    4) are there different animations for weapons ranging in similar lengths? (I.e. spear and a long stick)

Josh on weapon animations back in January:

"We're starting out with one basic attack for each weapon type with variants as a lower priority. Making all of the weapon attacks unique/good is more important (IMO) than having variants."

    http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/63169-update-38-meet-the-developers-with-mark-bremerkamp-lead-animator/page-3?do=findComment&comment=1300857

Thank you very much for a quick response. I am glad that even though some abilities will reuse animations they will mostly differ, that was one of my pet-pives.

  7. Now I really enjoy a game with a good story, but if a game has combat system that is limited or does not inspire, that story alone wont save it. So I want to know from anyone in the know about combat; Will the animations for skills and abilities differ, how will enemies react to being hit with a strong attack and being equipped with a shield (will it break), are there different animations for weapons ranging in similar lengths? (I.e. spear and a long stick)
