  1. Paradox Interactive announces Pillars of Eternity is now expected in early 2015, a delay from previous plans to release Obsidian's RPG by the end of this year. Here's the explanation:

Obsidian Entertainment and Paradox Interactive announced today that the highly anticipated fantasy role-playing game Pillars of Eternity, originally scheduled for release in late 2014, has been delayed until early 2015.

Feedback through the beta process from those who backed Pillars of Eternity on Kickstarter has been extremely helpful. The development team are listening to the feedback and are incorporating changes to ensure fans absolutely get the best game possible. This short delay will allow Obsidian to produce the quality of game that they can be rightly proud of.

"Since the very beginning of this project we promised our fans and ourselves that we would release this game only when we knew it would be absolutely ready for the best experience possible. We're very close to that point, but not quite there yet. The feedback we have received through our playtest process has been invaluable to us. We are coming into the home stretch but are pushing the release out just a bit to make sure we honor that promise we made originally. Thanks for your patience and support, it will be worth the wait." – Feargus Urquhart, CEO Obsidian.

Both Obsidian and Paradox are aware of the anticipation the thousands of people who donated to the Pillars of Eternity Kickstarter campaign have, many of whom have been clamoring for a game in the style of classic role-playing games for years. And, rest assured, no one is more anxious for the completion and release of this game than we are. However, we are excited to get the extra time to incorporate the feedback and add additional polish.

Your enthusiasm and support has been energizing for everyone and we're just as excited as you are for this game to come out and kick this new renaissance of classic style CRPG's into high gear!

  2. just decided to check the forums, although i backed the KS high enough to get into the beta i am glad i haven't played it yet. I am stunned there is no combat XP. Please don't re-invent the wheel guys, we backed knowing this is Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dales (first one only) spiritual successor, not a where no one has gone before experiment.

I think personally I am damaging my own overall enjoyment and enthusiasm for the game by doing the beta testing, but I do want the game to be better overall, so it's a bit self-sacrificial.

That is why I am not touching it until it's halfway decent.

Exactly what i am doing as well. All i want is great combat and a good story.

I have to say, I love your picture, Very 'Baldur's Gate-y. I'd love to be unlazy enough to do a photo like that, but, you know, the lazyness...

Thank you Cynical Felidae it was indeed done in the style of Baldur's Gate but i can't take credit for the work. It was the last portrait of the famous artist KarWal of KarWal Entertainment, he's the guy that did those fantastic celebrity portraits that are now (some of them) archive over here

it was the last one i am told he did before he stopped doing portraits.

"Paladin of Justice and Humility" Does this seem boastful to you? Describes exactly the two qualities that intrinsically define how i see a Paladin. :)

The Grand Master is highly pleased with your attitude, paladin.

    Many Thanks Grand Master.

  6. Hello fellow Order members and old school RPG's.

I just added $8.00 to my total kickstarter pledege to join the order and help out this project a little bit more

I contributed just to help make the Paladin class goal before it hit 2.7 Million this evening and we did it!

In that spirit, I humbly request the title of

"Paladin of Justice and Humility of the Obsidian Order"

Thank you for accepting me into your ranks and bestowing to me my chosen title if it meets with your approval,

    Thank you for your time,
