Are save files universal or are they locked into an OS? I'd like to be able to keep a save between my desktop and Macbook

If the heads were a little smaller it might do a decent job of making characters more distinct. At least for me, I have pretty bad eyesight haha.
-
Would it be possible to change "sex" to "gender" in character creation? It would be more accurate and inclusive.

You guys just got another $8 out of an unenployed person. I hope you're happy.

While I agree with you I don't think anyone should sit down in front of the computer, start a new role playing game, and find out their character can't resemble them. In a game about choice making the character an avatar for the person playing the game is the most important part.

Same for my womensnipIm pretty sure you would need stamina too, unless you were hoping for a fast kill.
Heavyweight dude isn't bad. He looks like a bloke at least and not an underwear model. I like my man with a bit of tummy.
Indeed.I like how the hot-topic of this entire game is whether or not women should be allowed to show off cleavage or not.
Good to see we've got our priorities straight.
Boobs, they are serious biznizz.

I know I would lose in a fight against either of them!

We used to enslave people with dark skin so I hope Obsidian doesn't let you play as a dark skinned character. It simply doesn't make sense.

Oh definitely! Here's a character I designed (my friend did the actual painting):Considering Josh Sawyers post at the start of this thread, the chances that they listen to you is probably zero. *SAD FACE*
Is it only me who thinks that women look pretty god damn epic in full plate mail?
Yeeeeeah.
-
So women are weak and incapable of accomplishing anything other than being your personal eye candy?Like the previous guy said well, it's just unrealistic to have women running around in full plate armor and fighting against men toe to toe, why bring realism into this?
Just leave women with the bikini armors, what's the big deal? they like to show off their features, and I, like any male, like to look at them.
-
Just because we live in a sexist world doesn't mean you should exclude women from playing what classes we want.Main female character just doesn't make much sense IMO.In games, movies and in history of the real world, I mean you can probably count with your fingers the amount of important females in our history.
So my suggestion is making the main story locked in on a male possibility only...at least for some classes, like warrior, paladin...
You're not a very nice person :/Why do you think women don't fight wars even today, with all this feminism culture going around with all the equality and stuff, cuz thats only good in the paper, in real life everyone knows the male is the strong and rational figure and the women is the emotional and weak creature.Men have more willpower to accomplish goals, that's why there arent many women Newton's around.
just my opinion, I admit I havent met every women in this planet, but so far, I'm pretty sure that's how it is for everyone of them, their purpose in life is just to find a strong man and cling to it.

Fallout: New Vegas was a video game designed by... wait for it... Obsidian Entertainment. In this game there are no stat penalties for playing as a women nor as a man. While not realistic this was most likely done to not limit a player's options and allow to play whatever role as whatever gender.Yes, because using a GAME as a reference is a great way to settle the realism of a hypothetical situtation.
It settles a setting's internal logic, which is entirely realistic.
Only if that setting explicitly redefines men and women and their abilities. Just like you assume that the sun rises in the east, you assume that men are stronger than women, unless told otherwise.
Project Eternity is an upcoming video game designed by.... the exact same people. Why would they suddenly decide to limit the player's options in such a way when it is so rarely done? The only game I can think of with stat penalities is Arcanum which gives a +1 to strength for male characters and a +1 to Endurance for female characters.
-
Project Eternity isn't a video game? I better withdraw my $100 pledge because I have been misled.
I was reading through all the posts since I've been gone and have been watiing for someone to say this. And also one of the most historically valid things. There is a reason after all while, aside from a few HIGHLY unrepresentative examples, the vast majority of all armies were and are made up of men.
CAN a woman POSSIBLY defeat a trained man in armored combat? Sure. But it's pretty damn unlikely.
See, here's my thing.
Our party is gonna be... what? Four people? Six people?
Something like that.
We're going to be playing with a tiny subset of the entire population of a world. We are not gathering every single man and woman together and having them square off in a gladiator arena until only one sex remains. We are talking specific people.
Maybe one of those people happens to be a woman who, through a combination of genetics and upbringing, is strong and talented in a fight? More so than most, albeit not necessarily all, men?
Spoiler alert: that's vaguely... realistic?
Yes the average woman is weaker than the average man. But this doesn't mean the strongest woman is weaker than the weakest man. I very highly doubt my character will be locked out of melee combat roles. Who was the unarmed combat specialist in Fallout: New Vegas? A woman? But this thread said that's impossible!

Hamstrings to cripple opponents, leaps to close gaps, whirling to hit multiple foes... There's a lot melee classes should be able to do besides autoattacking until their target is dead.

Because over here we think gratuitous violence is fine but if you see even a nipple THINK OF THE POOR CHILDREN!!Nudity should be included though (for both sexes).
Pasted on underwear for men and women is the worst.
I don't understand why American games run away from nudity like it's satanism.

Stretch goal: 100 different crate designsPlease make the crates in the sewer level different from the crates in the escape from prison level. Perhaps they could have different types of mold or cobwebs.
-
I wonder if a Wii U version could work considering its controller is basically a tablet. I'm not sure what the resolution of the screen is but I'm sure it's low res.
-
Bashing open crates is strangely rewarding.

Of course. If a character isn't a good character they shouldn't be in the game. Characters shouldn't be designed to check a box on the list of political correctness.Yup yup! Realistic armor is important! I hate it when I defeat some ancient eldritch horror and pick the lock on a magical treausre chest find some new amazing armor that it makes me look like a Soul Calibur character
And on the subject of variety I agree that we need a wider variety of characters. As a transgender lesbian it's a bit frustrating to see almost every female character be a white, straight, accesory for the main character or something like that. Where's the dark skin, the lesbians, the asexuals, the gender queer? Not trying to push an agenda here but Obsidian is one of the only developers I trust that can handle these sorts of characters with the respect and realism the deserve.
As long as it's done tastefully and realistically. Far too often in recent games those types of characters seem thrown in there for the sake of satisfying a political correctness quota rather than to organically flesh out the world and story line and as such they often stick out like a sore thumb and ruin the immersiveness of the game in my opinion.

In development by Bioware :3Eh it's not been completely fully announced yet. Only that it's in development
But we already know Bioware is working on DA3...
EDIT: Why would a Bioware employee anounce the game if they're not working on it? EA would just do it themselves.

Steam Cloud and cross OS saves
in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Posted
I'm not seeing my save file I started on my Macbook when I launch the game in Windows. Looks like saves are locked into the OS unless Steam Cloud is just being screwy
