Found it, it was INSIDE the cave. The reason that I didn't see it was because a huge animal died right on top of its body

Dude, I can't find that body anywhere. I found the device activated it, went into the cave, got the egg, but like you said the quest doesn't progress. I'm walking in and out of the cave for the last 30 minutes and I can't find a body at the entrance...
