Having to investigate a random beast corpse while 15 of them (that you killed yourself, so you wouldn't assume a corpse was important) litter the cave doesn't make sense to me. Regardless, I'm glad we all managed to figure it out eventually.

Journal entry in-game states: "Follow the tracking signal. The device has let you to a cave of some sort. Whatever it's tracking must be inside." I have explored the cave thoroughly, and the only thing I could find was a Gorvian Egg. The Gorvian Egg is inside my inventory as a quest item, but picking it up didn't progress the quest at all. Quest currently hard locked.
