Yeah it still works in combat but not outside combat. Mostly a visual thing but still kinda lame

I didn't notice right away but I think it stopped after I used my next skill point on "bounce". No longer have the visible aoe. Tested it on some destroyable boxes and couldn't break more than one at a time.
