I do that pretty frequently but it doesn't help. The ants wont stop making eggs. Its really annoying.

I'm having issues with to many ants spawning even after the most recent patch, I had leave my mansion because they wont stop spawning and are causing major lag. I crash a lot and I also kill them almost daily, they wont stop laying eggs! I'm to far into that world to make a new world, I really wish it can be fixed because everything they said they patched with ants didn't work.
