  1. Old post though... I am pretty sure Thucydid and Tacitus, or any of the classical athenian or roman author, would disagree with you, for they are nothing but concise, and have quite a dry style. And as for XVII's french century authors, such as Racine, they aspire to express the most complex feelings through the fewest words.
