  1. I managed to fix the problem, here's how. Go to start > Control Panel > System Click the 'Hardware' tab Click 'Device Manager' Press the + next to 'Display Drivers' Double Click 'NVIDIA GeForce 6200 LE' (Or whatever the name of your card is) Click on the 'Driver' tab Click 'Roll Back Driver' and roll back to an earlier driver. Alternatively you can download earlier drivers from the internet but I'm not sure where from. I'm now using driver version 6.14.11.7813 Maybe there are later ones which work but I haven't checked. The game plays with a few frame rate issues in foggy areas etc. but atleast it works. However all my other programs don't look quite so nice.
  2. Hello, I purchased KOTOR 2 a couple of days ago. I installed the game and clicked 'Game' from the launcher. It plays the 'LucasArts' and 'Obsidian' logo movies and shows the title picture (of Nihilus, Sion and Vias) but the screen then goes black (although there is background music). A window pops up saying it has 'encounted a problem and must close'. I am then returned to the desktop. I have tried running with the movies and sound disabled with the same results. I have the latest updates for my video, sound and motherboard drivers and the latest DirectX. I have tried uninstalling and re-installing the game and rebooting. I have also installed both of the officals patches. I have disabled power management and I close my other applications such as anti-virus etc. when I try to run the game. I can't think what else it could be. Here is my system information: OS Name Microsoft Windows XP Professional Version 5.1.2600 Service Pack 3 Build 2600 OS Manufacturer Microsoft Corporation System Name THE-BRAIN System Manufacturer Gateway System Model E4038 System Type X86-based PC Processor x86 Family 15 Model 4 Stepping 9 GenuineIntel ~3066 Mhz BIOS Version/Date Phoenix Technologies, LTD 6.00 PG, 17/01/2006 SMBIOS Version 2.4 Windows Directory C:\WINDOWS System Directory C:\WINDOWS\system32 Boot Device \Device\HarddiskVolume1 Locale United Kingdom Hardware Abstraction Layer Version = "5.1.2600.5512 (xpsp.080413-2111)" User Name THE-BRAIN\Jestral Time Zone GMT Standard Time Total Physical Memory 1,024.00 MB Available Physical Memory 492.87 MB Total Virtual Memory 2.00 GB Available Virtual Memory 1.96 GB Page File Space 2.40 GB My video card is a NVidia GeForce 6200 LE (which is written on the box as a supported video chipset) Here's the display information: Name NVIDIA GeForce 6200 LE PNP Device ID PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0163&SUBSYS_820B1043&REV_A1\4&300EBE7&0&0010 Adapter Type GeForce 6200 LE, NVIDIA compatible Adapter Description NVIDIA GeForce 6200 LE Adapter RAM 256.00 MB (268,435,456 bytes) Installed Drivers nv4_disp.dll Driver Version 6.14.11.8250 INF File oem17.inf (nv4_NV3x section) Color Planes 1 Color Table Entries 4294967296 Resolution 1280 x 720 x 60 hertz Bits/Pixel 32 Memory Address 0xFA000000-0xFCFFFFFF Memory Address 0xD0000000-0xDFFFFFFF Memory Address 0xFB000000-0xFBFFFFFF IRQ Channel IRQ 18 I/O Port 0x000003B0-0x000003BB I/O Port 0x000003C0-0x000003DF Memory Address 0xA0000-0xBFFFF Driver c:\windows\system32\drivers\nv4_mini.sys (6.14.11.8250, 5.99 MB (6,280,416 bytes), 22/04/2009 00:05) If you need any more information let me please know.
