  1. Yes, it is a very trimmed down demo of the idea. The question is if the gaming experience can improve by giving social behaviour to the npcs. If they are more socially interesting, maybe the game can become more interesting. Regards, Afonso
  2. You don't need to help with anything, the idea is for you people to see the demo of the work which came out of the questionnaires that you helped with . Regards, Afonso
  3. Someone brought to my attention the resilience of windows users to download executables, I'm sorry, I've used Mac OS X for so long that I forgot about it! For those who don't remember, the idea of the questionnaire was to see if users would prefer NPCs of RPGs with a more active social behaviour. The previous post can be found here. The demo is a little "game" which takes place in a market. You crashed in a planet and need to get some items to repair your shuttle. There are two versions, one with social behaviour and the other without. The blog about my thesis ( although with a gap of 6 months ) can be found in http://oniwaka.blogspot.com/. There are no virus people, the only risk is finding the demo a little crappy! Take into account that I have no artistic vein! Any feedback is welcomed. Regards, Afonso
  4. Hello, Don't know if anyone here remembers, but about a year ago I came to the forums asking for help on filling out a questionnaire, for my master's thesis, regarding social behaviour in RPGs. I finished the demo of my work some days ago and to anyone who might be interested in taking a look you can download it for Mac OS X or for Windows. Although I wasn't able to create something as extensive as I wished, I hope that you find it at least a bit interesting ;-). Regards, Afonso
  5. I understand, but I only made those explicitly available because they're the ones that I'm going to evaluate myself, and use as a comparison. Sorry if you needed to write alot!
  6. Yesterday a problem happened with the Blogger server. After the questionnaire I have to decide where to send the people that submited it. So I decided to submit them to the blog of the project (there are no adds there, not trying to make money! ;-). But yesterday the blogger server had some problem and was giving a 500 code error (Internal Server Error). So this means that you submited the survey ok, and the problem was loading the blog page.
  7. Yes, that's exactly it. For example, NPCs don't just stand around, they decide to go somewhere and do something. And also, it's not to make them always go back and forth repetitively, they should "think for themselves".
  8. That was yesterday, before I had this account created. I'll thank all of you in the next post! ;-) Thanks for your suggestions, but I can't really alter it at this point. It was approved by my coordinator and since I've got already alot of answers it would create a breach between them.
  9. Thanks! Hopefully a year from now it will be finished and all of you will be able to play the demo! ;-)
  10. I'm for real! ;-) I'm really doing a Masters' Degree. The group that I'm in is Inesc-ID, a AI group at my University (IST - TagusPark). I'm also updating a blog with the progression of the project. You can find it on http://oniwaka.blogspot.com. Thanks for all your help people! Hopefully the project from my Thesis will eventually become a game! Regards, Afonso
  11. Hi, I'm doing a Masters' Degree at a University in Portugal which will focus on NPC Social Behavior, and I would like to ask your help to answer a questionnaire. The idea behind my Thesis is to try to improve the Computer RPG experience, that's why I'm asking for your help, because you are the ones that know what should be improved! You can find it on http://freeonlinesurveys.com/rendersurvey....o2arm74s7233913. Thank you for your help, Regards, Afonso
