Gold Missing?

I bought the 200 gold/day thing when the game came out. It expired sometime between last night and this morning. This morning, I have 0 gold available and last night I had something in the 1600 to 1800 range. Do I need to keep an active daily gold thing going in order to access my gold (including what I earn from game play) or is this just a bug? Thanks
