I think Activision Blizzard owns the rights to the game (having bought Sierra Entertainment, who AFAIK owned the rights to Arcanum).
Yeah this is right, current trademark holder is Activision Publishing, Inc., which is subsidiary of Activision Blizzard, they renewed their claim to trademark in 2012.
Hopefully Blizzard doesn't make a sequal. The last thing I want to play is a arcanum sequel with cartoon art...
I would pay serious money for a reboot rather than sequel.
The original Arcanum did what it did well better than just about anything else out there, but it was also hideously broken in so many ways it's not even funny. A "spiritual successor" would suit me just fine.
True, considering how popular steam punk is. It's surprising their wasn't a spiritual successor already...
Their is no bug that the guys at nexus won't patch so I'm not to worried about buggyness

I concur, It's high time that the Malazan Series branched out beyond the novels.

You guys think that there is any chance of a sequel to Arcanum in the works? I realize that Jason Anderson works for Turtle Rock Studios and Leonard Boyarsky works for Blizzard Entertainment. However, considering that Obsidian Entertainment worked with Jason Anderson and inXile Entertainment on Wasteland 2, I am extremely hopeful to get a sequel to the game I played (and replayed) throughout my highschool years. What do you guys think?

Well, Erikson ported it to gurps (or was it rifts?) Due to the inflexibility of DND, but yeah, it wouldn't be like the game mechanics aren't already in place...
