I've been experiencing this problem (and not with some cheap, old graphics card either!!!)
I reduced the refresh rate from 85 to 75 hz (in the configuration options before you start the game proper) and this may have helped. Don't know for sure, but the last cut scene played out fine.

I had to reload the savegame... the cage was empty then... when i entered the base Mr. Vrook was standing in the corridor like it should have been in first place
Thanks, I think I'll give it a go. Problem is that the base is all black for me at the moment. When I finally get the patch working I'll see if it's any better.

I can connect to other FTP sites no problem.
I have tried disabling my firewall but that doesn't make a difference.

Am I the only one that cannot connect to the FTP site? I've been trying all week, and at different times (8am/9am when I thought it would be quiet, lunchtime, evening, night...) The autoupdater never connets to the Lucasarts FTP site.
If I ever try to FTP to LucasArts manually I get "server busy".
I'm trying to GetRight the file using the FTP address above but currently stuck with "server busy". Not sure I'm going to be able to do anything with it. when it arrives though...!!!
Am I the only one having this problem?
Just ran the Splinter Cell auto-update and it connected in seconds, downloaded and installed no problems at all. I know it's a different game, but surely LucasArts can manage something similar?!?!

Thanks for all the replies.
I did not follow the guide until I was stuck because I couldn't figure out how to release him.
I always keep a few save slots on the go, but unfortunately I hadn't been wise enough to create them at specific points (eg start of planet).
I think I asked Adana about Vrook, but unfortunately I can't check as the building is completely dark. I guess there's a slim chance I may be able to randomly click on her...!??
The game tells me I've spent 39 hours so far, and it's too depressing to start again. I think I'm going to wait for the patch and pray that sorts it out. In the meantime, it can go back on the shelf. Very annoying!!

People usually reply once you've posted a topic ONE time. It just takes a bit of patience. Anyway, moving on from the three identical post problem (i don't know whether this was accidental. I hope it was. Otherwise that could be considered a little, forceful. haha, stupid joke.)
Sorry, in all honesty I didn't think I'd posted at all as the forum gave me an error each time.

Finally i was able to get past that point using the KSE Editor and setting 604DAN_VROOK_STATUS to 3
Next time i will solve the whole game using the editor ... saves me 30 hours
What happens when you set this in the editor? Do you lose any of the story or the game or does it carry on exactly at the point when you would have normally freed him?

I found Master Vrook in my 2nd visit to the crystal caves on Dantooine. I killed all the mercenaries, but he was still held tightly in his cage.
So I went away and defended the base against the Mercenaries. (Now the base is entirely black when I go inside and I can only see using the map!!!)
Anyway. I can't seem to release Vrook from his cage. I had a look in the guides and it seems that this should have happened when the last mercenary was free.
Please someone help! I don't now have any save games going back that far, so I can't try killing the mercenaries again. Is this a bug or should I be doing something else?
Thanks,
John
PS - any tips to avoid the darkness in the base would also be appreciated, but I think Vrook is the only thing I need to do on Dantoiine to progress now.

I've now completed the game. Since I went to 75Mhz everything seemed OK.
It's a shame really. This is probably the buggiest game I have ever played, but without the bugs it really was rather good. I'm in two minds about whether I'd want to put myself through a KOTOR3, but I suspect it would be hard to resist. Let's just hope there's some QA the next time...
