Roll the old Berath's Wheel is so good. Lyrics below:

Oh, a drop of good spiced rum wouldn't do us any harm! x3
And we'll all hang on behind...
And we'll roll the old Berath's wheel along
We'll roll the old Berath's wheel along x2
And we'll all hang on behind

And a bowl of Huana stew wouldn't do us any harm! x3
And we'll all hang on behind...
And we'll roll the old Berath's wheel along
We'll roll the old Berath's wheel along x2
And we'll all hang on behind

Oh, a stolen chest of Pires wouldn't do us any harm! x3
And we'll all hang on behind...
And we'll roll the old Berath's wheel along
We'll roll the old Berath's wheel along x2
And we'll all hang on behind

Oh, a-skirting Ondra's water wouldn't do us any harm! x3
And we'll all hang on behind...
And we'll roll the old Berath's wheel along
We'll roll the old Berath's wheel along x2
And we'll all hang on behind

Oh, a night in Queen's Berth wouldn't do us any harm! x3
And we'll all hang on behind...
And we'll roll the old Berath's wheel along
We'll roll the old Berath's wheel along x2
And we'll all hang on behind

And we'll roll the old Berath's wheel along
We'll roll the old Berath's wheel along x2
And we'll all hang on behind

I actually didn't like the shanties since I have too much prior association with them to imagine them as belonging to Eora. I guess that's why they included the option to disable them.

I hadn't heard the tune for Faithful Sailor before, though, and I loved it.

https://pastebin.com/AF7wXZ48 - roll the old berath's wheel

https://pastebin.com/nMrBiSLz - haul away and go

https://pastebin.com/Etr3ZvTB - heave away my lendry

https://pastebin.com/h2tRQtpf - faithful sailor

here's what i got out of them, minus the occasional word and what i can only describe as the gibberish lines in deadfire lines

The shanties are easily one of my favorite things in the game.

I was expecting Obsidian to do something ala Sid Meier's Pirates. You know, vague simlish yo-ho-hos and humming. But no, they're actual songs that make sense in the context of the setting, and they're all amazing to listen to.

Glorious, glorious surprise.

This so much. I really do think they add immense flavor to the game. One of my favorite things about this game. I'm glad they put some effort into these and didn't half-ass them. Or like another post says, like other games and just use gibberish or something.

I think Aim Spirente is exceptionally good and I also think Haul away and Go is also very good, very authentic navy style melody, but my vote has to go with the one I keep singing in the shower: "Ooooohh...A drop of good spiced rum wouldn't do us any harm,"

These three aree so much better IMO than the others I can't vote for all of them.

I wish they'd done a version of Barrett's Privateers.

As a (fellow?) Haligonian this would be amazing.

Oh no, I just know it from googling "sea shanties" on youtube last week after Deadfire left me wanting more. It's easily the best modern iteration on the format.

You'll be happy to know that a whole bar full of drunk people can still regularly break out into this song in Halifax

even though not a damn one of us knows all the words

Extra bonus question - most (all?) of the shanties have two versions, one with a male soloist, one with a female soloist. Do you prefer one type over the other? I like them all about equally, except for Faithful Sailor, where I love to death the female-led version.

Another Aim'Spirente fun fact!

Remember how the captain is called Parfitto? Well, guess what captain and what ship will hunt you down if you anger the Vailian Trading Company a little too much?

It's a fine three-master thin like a bird...

I love them all and had a hard time between Roll the Old Berath's Wheel and Haul Away and Go, but chose the former.

I like that Haul Away and Go references the Battle of Yenwood Field.

I don't know if this was brought up before, but I was surprised to hear the female soloist version of the shanties in-game for the first time (which I had only heard from the soundtrack) and I realized-- which one plays depends on whether you have mostly male or mostly female crew

I like them all, but Haul Away and Go is my favorite.

When Berath's Wheel or Aim'Spirente are being sung by my crew, I just idle in the harbour and only dock once they are finished. ;)

Yes, these shanties are the new Stalwart theme for me. When I hear them I stop playing and go do something else while I listen.

There actually is a Barrett's Privateers reference. One of the background conversations in Neketaka is a guy saying he just signed on for a berth on the Antelope.
