Out of two of my ship crew

Irrena has a level in Cook, a level in Deckhand and 2 levels in Cannoneer. She is on 43 exp.

Chitupec has a level in Deckhand and 3 levels in Cannoneer . He also has 43 exp.

Have i messed up with Irrena? Or will she still be able to reach max level in Cannoneer? Will it just take longer?

What is the max exp points a shipmate can get?

On my first playthrough I scoured the seas clean. Every ship except neutral merchants (who are worth very little), I boarded. I later decided I wanted a bigger ship, which meant a lot of crew slots to fill with untrained sailors. To get them experience, I sailed into storms repeatedly.

I have sailors who have been with me from start to finish here, from meaningful piracy to deliberate storm sailing. None of them have gotten past the master (4 stars) rank. None of them have gotten past 4 stars total either, except one guy but I think he actually starts with 3-2-2 experience.

Can you get past four stars on a crew member? Maybe. Will there be any use for it at that point? Doubtfully :p

P.S. The highest xp I've reached is 143 on a sailor, but storms respawn so if you wanna see if something happens at 150 or 200 or 250, sail into them as long as your budget allows.

Yeah I do the same with storms and ships. I also can't past 4 stars total for a crew member. Edited by Gary1986

Emeini is the gal who has five stars total: 3 cannoneer, 1 deckhand, 1 helmsman. I believe she starts that way. If anyone wants to check for science, I recall recruiting her at the Brass Citadel.

Yeah, Emeini is the only one I have with more than 4 stars total. Everybody else I've left in specific positions for ages trying to get them more stars and they simply don't. It stays with 4 total stars max. Which makes me think there is now more value for specialised crew members. Initially I thought they could achieve 4 stars in whatever they had stars to begin with so I deliberately went for multi talented ones.

So if 4 stars is max for each crew member, then best-in-slot crew members are:

Deckhands (6): Cathenna Stormheart, Ora the Mad, Pig-Sticker Rukowa, Ragged Cerrow, Rum-Dumb Riggere, Tuliak Longfrost

Cannoneer (3): Baltia, Coin-Counter Foeldas, Vanizzi

Helmsman (1): Llendreth

Navigator (1): Worthless Idiot

Cook (1): Ushizu

Source: https://pillarsofeternity.gamepedia.com/Pillars_of_Eternity_II:_Deadfire_crew_members

According to this there is no Boatswain or Surgeon in the game that can reach Master rank.

Also there are not enough specialist cannoneers for Galleon (has 4 cannoneer slots) or Junk (has 5 cannoneer slots).

There's another cook, called Vektor. On Tikawara. Available after you resolve the VTC business on Poko Koharu or whatever the spelling. I prefer him because Ushizu is indeed greedy and tries to make me give him money every time I make an offering to Ondra.

Another specialist I found is Luca who can be a master rank boatswain ... you can recruit him in the VTC headquarter.

But I haven't found:

- Cathenna Stormheart

- Pig-Sticker Rukowa

- Ragged Cerrow

These can be master rank deckhands as listed in the wiki: https://pillarsofeternity.gamepedia.com/Pillars_of_Eternity_II:_Deadfire_crew_members

But I don't know where or how to get them.

For what it's worth I have Ragged Cerrow in my first playthrough party's sailor roster. So he's not just a datamined find.

Tikawara. It's in the wiki now, and I checked in-game less than an hour ago.

Luca, clerk in a VTC bulding, is a pure boatswain
You have to finish the quest where Huana wants to annul contract with VTC, and if you succeed, they fire Luca afterwards and you can hire him

I have him now on my ship, he is a master boatswain

Where abouts in Tikawara did you pick her up? Is she unique? Or is it just one of those shipyard hires with a non-unique portrait?

She's a shipyard hire. Either it was from the supply button in port (if that exists for Tikawara) or from talking to the Huana merchant woman. She's just north of the docks, near the Vailian merchant.

Thanks, I never checked the supply button for Tikawara port. She is only available via supply button, not at the merchant npc.

Copperhead (Splintered Reef) isn't listed on the Wiki and can be recruited, depending on what one does to complete the A Paradise of the Mind quest.  He has two ranks in Navigator and two ranks in Deckhand, so he's not a candidate for Master rank either, unfortunately.

I did go through the game data files and I think all ship crew members have been accounted for between the Wiki and this thread EXCEPT for someone named "Disciple Iztla".  They aren't listed in the Wiki and I haven't found any reference to them on this board.  Only references I can find about them are a few stray comments on the net saying they are a potential crew member, but I don't know where they are.

Has anyone run into Disciple Iztla yet (named CRW_Iztla in the game data) and if so, where did you find them?  Maybe they're our missing surgeon.

EDIT:

Did some further digging and near as I can tell they're a Deckhand of some sort, if I read the entries in ships.gamedatabundle right.  So, no go there, I'm afraid.

Might as well use this thread to ask.  Over at the Wiki, there's are a few potential crew members listed as being found in Dunnage, but I can't find hide nor hair of them anywhere.  Namely the crew members named "Daelan" and "Giani Canc-Assi" and "Ragged Cerrow".

Do they show up at the King's Coffin in Dunnage after a certain amount of time/quest progression?  Or are they found elsewhere in Dunnage after events progress?

I know that omgFIREBALLS said they found Ragged Cerrow during their playthrough, but I can't find Cerrow at the moment. :(

He's for hire through the Supply interface, I noticed not long ago. That's on a super progressed save though.

I've gone to Dunnage really early (just after getting Serafen) on 2 in progress playthroughs and in both Ragged Cerrow is available right away through the supply tab.

Man, I keep forgetting that crew can sometimes be found at the Supply button.    Hella weird that they're not avaiable at the Kings Court though.  The other two I was looking for were there as well.

Thanks for the help! :)
