You can even make sure it gets made and support it on Fig!

If you weren't done with crowdfunding, that is. ^^

“Political philosophers have often pointed out that in wartime, the citizen, the male citizen at least, loses one of his most basic rights, his right to life; and this has been true ever since the French Revolution and the invention of conscription, now an almost universally accepted principle. But these same philosophers have rarely noted that the citizen in question simultaneously loses another right, one just as basic and perhaps even more vital for his conception of himself as a civilized human being: the right not to kill.”

Quote

"The chancellor, the late chancellor, was only partly correct. He was obsolete. But so is the State, the entity he worshipped. Any state, entity, or ideology becomes obsolete when it stockpiles the wrong weapons: when it captures territories, but not minds; when it enslaves millions, but convinces nobody. When it is naked, yet puts on armor and calls it faith, while in the Eyes of God it has no faith at all. Any state, any entity, any ideology that fails to recognize the worth, the dignity, the rights of Man...that state is obsolete."

Apologies if already mentioned somewhere else around here, but the results for Larian's RPG survey are finally in, and can be viewed here:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B9gunuuzETdsV3V2akxOY1hjR1U/view

Multiplayer features, especially Co-op and PvP took quite a beating, and rightfully so if I may say.

Not sure if Larian will actually take the results too seriously. I was watching a news report by The Know which talked about the results and they said something like:

"The results were interesting. Most people who filled out the survey prefer isometric over third person shoulder camera angles... but then again, look at the audience filling out the survey. That is something to consider."

In other words, there's a certain niche audience flocking to the survey which isn't a very good thing. For example, I love playing rpg's but I prefer the over the shoulder camera angle but I don't care about filling out the survey. Should that be taken into consideration or should the opinion of my type of audience be shunned/discarded because we simply didn't fill out the service but continue to buy the games?

Those are always important things lol Which is why internet surveys are hard to take seriously nowdays.

Just what do you think you're doing?! You dare to come between me and my prey? Is it a habit of yours to scurry about, getting in the way and causing bother?

What are you still bothering me for? I'm a Knight. I'm not interested in your childish games. I need my rest.

24% think the ideal length of an RPG is 100+ hours? Those people need to get a life.  :p

It's a survey of Larian fans so if you play their long isometric RPGs then you probably like RPGs with an isometric camera and a lot of content. The only real surprise for me was that co-op didn't rate better as that had been a push by Larian. Though I guess I wouldn't be surprised if it was a big part of why DOS was among the better selling KS games even though it's not a feature the core audience cares a lot for.

Yeah, my argument with that is that Supergiant's storywriting is better than Obsidian's and Larian's but their games are only around 8 hours. Yet Supergiant has this way of capturing just as much depth while killing filler and travel time. It's incredible... even Pyre which has traveling puts an actual story purpose to why traveling is there basically revolutionizing how developers should deal with traveling.

I'm a huge fan of isometric but actually slightly prefer over-the-shoulder third person cam. The isometric angle seems to be overused or maybe I'm just gettin burnt out on it.

I was also surprised at the single player thing. That makes me happy actually because I could never get into Multiplayer rpg's like WoW and even though Divinity Original Sin 2 is perhaps the best co-op rpg ever made, it probably offers too much freedom which I think may be the reasoning behinds voter's choice. Still interesting results... very interesting indeed.

Just what do you think you're doing?! You dare to come between me and my prey? Is it a habit of yours to scurry about, getting in the way and causing bother?

If you care about your oppinion being heard, you should have filled the survey. Tens of thousands people filling out the survey is not niche audience by any means. It's same as voting. If you stayed at home and did not vote, your lost vote is completely irrelevant to the politicians, they care only to people who show them their support or voice their oppinions against them...

Maybe they have a life and only want to play 1 game per year. :w00t:
I have a life and 3 out of 8 games which I have finished This year took me 100+ Hours to see the end credits... Gran Turismo 5 could be counted as 4th, because I spent 600-700 hours playing it over the course of 6 years.

It's nothing wrong to play 1 game for 100 hours and enjoying it. And I rather play 1 good and long game than 5 ME:Andromeda-like abominations and be gone with them in 10 hours...

Thanks but that's okay. I really don't like surveys for some reason and I agree, it's just that 10's of thousands is still nothing in the rpg community.

I guess I'm kinda an anti-voter lol I am glad I did not vote for a president this term :( As far as productivity to follow Larian's survey, if they make an rpg that I don't like in the future I can just buy some other developer's product.

I'm more for communication on forums with devs and usually if they are not there to respond directly to fans I skip their game. Unless the developer is to be trusted that is.

Maybe they should just take a 30 minute hike instead...everyday!  :p

But yeah, I get what you're saying but thing is that we ain't getting no Bloodborne 2 anytime soon.

Did you play Eternal Ring?

There used to be a signature here, a really cool one...and now it's gone.

In the past 3 years combined I only have 999 hours worth of playtime for 274 games and 30 hours logged into my PS4 lol

I don't know if people really only stay on one game per year though, that's a bit hard to believe. Usually when a facebook friend tells me they do this, I see them on Steam playing games 24/7 lol

My problem is short 4-10 hour games that I beat too quickly.

Yeah, that's kinda how surveys work.

Interesting... I've never seen isolated surveys before but then again, I don't consider these types as such I've seen.

Soon? More likely never. If anything they'll make a brand new souls inspired IP with Sony for PS5.

Nope. And I  usually hate early 2000 era 3D graphics, so i'm not going to play it either.

With all respect, that's crazy man... almost 100 games per year? You can't remember anything from that big pile of stuff thrown at your brain fro more than few minutes...

Quality over Quantity here all year long, Playing 1 game per month or two makes me remember everything that happened in my games for dozens of years...
