Quest Mode is going away in the next patch.

It's probably running on borrowed time at this point, so if you haven't already played a couple rounds of Quest to secure the farewell rewards, you should probably do so soon.

For all the folks that play Quest Mode for the next couple of weeks here is a list of the rewards that you will receive if you play prior to patch 1.1.6.5:

  • 125 Gold per level of the highest Quest Mode character. That's 5000 Gold for a level 40.
  • 1000 Gold Bonus for a level 40.
  • A new set of dice, " Pearlescent Dice of Service"
  • The legendary card "Elemental Body"
Chests, depending on what level your highest Quest Mode character is:
  • Level 1 - 10; 2 Chest
  • Level 11 - 20; 4 Chests
  • Level 21 - 30; 6 Chests
  • Level 31 - 39; 8 Chests
  • Level 40; 10 Chests

It is, but who knows if it (not likely) come back in few years. I liked quest mode more than story mode, but if the team has no time to make quest mode working properly it has to go.

My personal hope is that the team will release the quest mode as a beta release, if They have no time to make it finalized version.

So then nobody Expect it to work properly. At this moment it only causes bad publicity.

I know I've said this elsewhere already, but I just cannot disagree with this more.

It doesn't have to go. It works now. It can stay exactly like it is for $0. That it should go is highly questionable already, saying it has to go is just plain false.

Quest Mode should stay as it is.

Drop support, drop gold rewards, prevent daily challenges from being completed on QM... but let it stay. I've not even finished story mode, but I have played QM a lot (enough to have several 40's) because I really feel is a much better and varied mode (even with the current T3 limits) than Story Mode.

They're essentially removing half of the game just because they have no time to properly work with both "halves". But don't remove one half "just because", let it stay as it is if there is people who actually enjoys that half more than the other.

I also think it's a huge disappointment to lose Quest Mode, but when the devs weighed in on a different thread, it was stated that it wasn't just because of the bugs in the Quests:

The main reason Quest Mode was removed was because of all the issues that arose that made the game unstable or unplayable. It really was like supporting two different games.

I personally love the idea of Quest Mode and we are looking into a way where it supports the Story Mode game characters instead but leaving both types of characters in the game... bad juju.

I don't have any idea why this should be, but there's the official reasoning. Still, I can't help but wonder how pissed the average player is going to be; I can't imagine most players frequent these forums, so its disappearance is going to come as a shock.

My assumption (and this is pure speculation on my part) is that the reason that Quest mode is going away is because the devs do not have sufficient time/resource to port it over to the upcoming PC version and make sure it works correctly, and that they do not want to release a PC version which has fewer features than the mobile version.

Otherwise, I can't see why they wouldn't just leave it in and not update/support it until they have time to work on it again.

I think it is more practical than technical.  Recompiling Pathfinder for PC/Mac isn't that difficult, and I would be tremendously surprised if the app hasn't been working fine on desktop for a long time now.

The problem I see is that Quest Mode just couldn't live up to its potential. It was never bad or particularly broken; what we ended up with is something stuck about half-way between scripted and random.  Striking that balance between random and fun can be difficult, and players are just one poorly-generated quest away from losing everything if they play with permadeath on.

While I'm entirely sympathetic to the idea that it costs nothing to leave the feature in, once you hit lvl 40, you're pretty much playing the same half-dozen scenarios over and over again.  I cannot imagine that was their intent.

I have some faith that it may come back someday, but if a Steam launch is on the horizon, shipping a product with a half-implmented feature like Quest is one way to be murdered in the reviews.  Better to focus and enhance the core experience of Story Mode for now, and reintroduce quest or something like it later.

I have two reasons I'm sad Quest is going away.

1)  The game always seemed to break when I hit the low 20's for levels.  I'd have to restart each character.  I have never gotten any character to 40.  It looks like I won't.

2)  With the Daily Challenges, I play Quest mode to do them.  If it happens to work with Story mode, great.  Most of the time I skip the Story mode quests (Lem must beat X adventure alone).

With the last break in the game I moved on to other things.  It lost its fun and appeal because I had to restart a third time.  I come back and play Quest from time to time (just hit level 20 today).  I've got a party of 2 starting the 5th AD.  Remove Quest and I'll dig out my physical game to play.  No need for the app.

Speaking as a new player of two months ...quest mode is where it's at.

The only reason I created an account to comment.

I was actually looking for the next update in hopes of having a higher level in quest mode. Very disappointed to find Quest mode going away.

Quest mode is the only reason I have spent money. Story mode is boring after a couple of run throughs.

Story mode doesn't allow me to grind for gold to purchase packs or characters.

Quest mode is far more interesting with the mix of spells and monsters unavailable in story mode.

Story mode is not engaging enough to play over and over. I'm playing each story through once, on each difficulty. When done, the game won't be played and I will miss updates bc I won't be looking.

After all there are other awesome games out there.

Without quest mode, there is zero replay value.

The randomness of quest mode is what makes it so good.

Story mode is the same thing over and over again. So. Very. Very. Very. Boring. Again. And. Again.

Removing quest mode may help you develop more content, yet quest mode is a huge part of this game and when you nix it you will lose a large portion of your player pool.

When there is no fresh content there is no incentive to play. The daily quests aren't engaging enough to be a real incentive.

QUEST MODE GIVES THIS GAME REPLAY VALUE.

I've just read thus news and I'm really surprised.

I'm a relatively new player and I'm not sure I'm going to play every day only to see the same story mode with alts... Quest mode it's quite fun and I do appreciate it, except for the annoying bugs...

Yeah I think that's the problem, quest mode bugs might be stupidly difficult to reproduce given it's "random" nature that the team almost treats it as a separate game. With a team of less than 10 people, it's pretty difficult to maintain sadly :(

You can't be more wrong. The only thing that is correct here is the fact that story mode does not allow grinding for gold (it does, but nowhere near Quest mode)... everything else is just plain wrong.

Both Quest and Story use same pool of cards... there is no card that can only be used in Quest  mode. But there are cards that only show up in Story mode since I don't think Loot card are used there.

Story mode may not be engaging but at least it have a story behind it... and that slightly changes based on which characters you use.

Replay value is the same whether Quest mode is there or not... in fact, Story mode might actually have higher replay value since you may wish to test yourself with various party setups to see how easy or hard it is to complete the mode.

Randomness is about the same... with Story mode you have 5 new scenarios at each tier, with Quest mode you have 5-6 new scenarios at each tier. Quest mode was never trully random.

Both are repetitive... at least with Story mode you know you'll play each set only once during your playtrough as opposed to Quest mode where you literally had to play exact same scenario sevaral times in a row.

So no, Quest mode is not where the replay value of the game is. Replay value of the game is the same as with it's physical copy: in ability to play through with different party sizes and composition. And each new character (or even character-alt) help with that.

To add my 2 cents, Quest Mode is the only reason I'm playing, and the only reason I spent money.  I debated getting the physical copy, and opted for spending the money on the app instead as I really enjoyed Quest Mode.  If this is going away, I'm going to be extremely upset and likely walk away.  If I'm the minority in this request, that's fine, but if not, please reconsider this, even if you leave Quest Mode as it is right now.

Yep, that's a good point: better have something bugged than nothing else to do... :)

I am curious - have you tried the actual card game?
