In update 13 I noticed a blue-skinned companion that (afaik) hadn't been mentioned before and who, judging from his appearance, appears to be a godlike aumaua?

Having the godlike be a subrace to all other races was something I recall being suggested for PoE1.

After all, there's no reason the other kith races shouldn't be god-touched.

The only problem I foresee with this would be when importing a godlike character from PoE1. But this could be solved by simply changing those characters' races to human godlike.

Or I might be completely wrong and the new companion is just a coastal aumaua... or a fish godlike... Or godlike non-human subraces are reserved for NPC's.

But there are non-human godlike in PoE 1 as well. When you choose the body type, it is like choosing your main race I guess.

Keeping godlike as a separate race is propably better for gameplay purposes, as they get special skills due to their origin.

tbf it is a little awkward having it be labelled as like "body type" when that is your characters actual race really

No, I think it's better this way, as it suggests that rather than necessarily being the godlike's corresponding parent race (which it still could be, but not necessarily), it was a more generalized matter of physique. So a godlike born from a pale elf, for example, could grow excessively, ending up auamua-sized or have their growth stunted and end up eye-to-eye with an orlan in terms of height.

Thats like askin how you tell the difference between an asian and an middle eastern when their face has been burnt off.

Of if you take away the differentiating characteristics its gonna get hard.

But if its a ****... its an elf haha

The Middle East is in Asia.

Ears....

Actually... its a transcontinental region.

And were talking about race here.

Arabic people belong to the Caucasian Race.

I remember bringing up the question of whether or not your godlike character could be a different base race than human. When the original Kickstarter launched, I think the plan was for godlike to be human only (at least, for the player character)

If the new companion IS an aumaua godlike I'm super excited. In Pillars 1, you could change your godlike character's body model, but none of the heads or portraits had any characteristics that would point towards being any base race other than human, which was disappointing. This new companion is clearly an aumaua, but he has enough godlike traits to make people wonder. This is the type of design I wanted for godlike.

Its hard to do for pc however. So many variations...

6racesx5godlike×2sexes=60

Yeah, and I don't fault them for spending that time/resources elsewhere.

Doesn't change the fact that seeing an actual orlan nature godlike or a dwarf fire godlike design would be rad.
