crazy ideas you like to have (but most likely not get)

There was a topic like this in the Larian forums for D:OS2. There I suggested the dryad talent (you can talk to plants, photosynthesis (more powerful in the light but weaker in the dark) and weakness to fire. Looks like it will not come.

Now I start such a topic for PoE2:

 

In PoE1, the different god specific talents for priests were not very impressive. what about:

- Priest of wael: Wael is the god of mysteries. His followers do strange things for no obvious reason. This fits well to a wild mage from BG2.

So whenever a priest of wael uses an active ability, there is a chance of a random effect that may be positive, negative or just strange.

If the priest does multi classing, it can happen also for active abilities of the other class.

 

- priest of abydon: Abydon is the god of crafting. His priests are good in summoning constructs and traps, but they are bad in healing magic. Say hallo to your private golem army. (I like those little spider bots from deus ex.)

 

And now the most unlikely wish ever created:

- A party size of 6 like in the good old IE games.

Crazy ideas you like to have (but most likely not get)

Trading. Shipping cargo between isles of archipelago for money (if you watch the difference/trends in prices for different goods).

Becoming a privateer. Capturing ships. Making a small fleet. Participating in naval battles.

Ability to improve your ship: durability, speed, maneuverability, cannons and crew count.

Becoming an admiral. Build a port or fort. Improve it.

And the list goes on.. but it looks like I answered a different question: "Crazy ideas you like to have (but most likely not won't get)"

traditional is three wishes, yes?  will keep brief.

 

1) convert to a turn-based and classless system... which is actual two wishes.  guess we suck at this. 

 

2) implement a universal health/fatigue mechanic.

 

every combat action depletes fatigue, including spell casting.  get hurt in combat also increases fatigue.  no more dumping constitution as fatigue becomes important for every character.

 

3) have villain be variable.  

 

imagine if early game decisions and responses could result in one of three villains becoming the UBG (ultimate bad guy) for your game.  with a necessarily vague protagonist, is the npc stories which inevitably drive the game, and the ubg is a significant npc. option 1) a watchmen villain, but better.  ozymandias still wants to be the hero, and the imagined alien blob threat sucked. make a real but remote threat-- frequent mention in game, but only as an aside.  villain is a prophet and one o' the few folks who foresee the real threat on the horizon, so he becomes a villain hoping to create a hero who can unify various factions/nations. 2) heroic villain genuine trying to fix an unfixable problem through increasing terrible means. 3) rope-a-dope villain-- spend most o' game chasing a moral ambiguous villain and dismantling her infrastructure only to find out you has been actual making the Big Reveal possible.  or whatever.  make each villain visual distinct with unique motivations.

 

developers spend too much effort on necessarily limited choice and consequences.  am not 'gainst choice and consequences, but in a story-driven game there is gonna be limits... unless such choices is made at very start or very end o' the game.  developers frequent make use o' conclusion of game choices to provide multiple endings.  is easy to offer multiple endings 'cause is end o' game and need not follow the individual bifurcations. converse, we suggest make a pivotal and profound trifurcation immediate at start o' game.  end up with some serious replayability, eh? 

 

we could come up with dozens, but three (ok, four,) is good enough for impossible stuff only relevant to an imaginary future game.

The cartographer in me wants maps, maps, and more maps. I want to see the whole world from the Living Lands to the White that Wends to the birthplace of elves north of Aedyr to historical maps of Vailian before the Republics south of the current Dyrwood... and of course the Deadfire islands stretching from [north of] the equator to Naasitaq in the south.

1. A soulknife subclass for ciphers using a modal ability similar to the Reaping Knives power from Pillars 1 with partially resettable enchantment options and unique powers to temporarily boost its damage/features at the cost of being unable to bind with soulbound weapons.

 

2. Unique dialogue options based on low intellect/intoxication/current injuries.

 

 

3. Concelhaut's skull as a recruitable NPC.

- Cat o'nine tails as a (unique) weapon. Nine independently rolled hits with low damage, but very high combined damage against 0 DR. Basically the melee blunderbuss.

 

- A subclass that uses summons or a periodic spell (like Returning Storm) that releases auto seaking weapons (like spider mines from Torchlight's Engineer class - loooved that).

 

- A subclass that uses animancy + engineering or whatever to create cool "vessel" attachments to armor. Like an additional arm (could mean additional weapon slot for example), a scorpion's tail (retaliation), a warning eye on the back of the helmet (deflection bonus), wings (don't ask my what that could be good for, maybe a dragon leap) and so on.

He's talking about the fact that almost every depiction of nudity and sex in videogames have been "12 year old's cringey hornyness for style + the worst B-grade budget porn production", e.g. DAO sex scenes.

 

But then, this thread is 'crazy ideas', so sure. Proper nudity, sex? Nothing against that. What we do get tends to be puerile trash.

Exactly. Almost every game has this "12 year old's cringey hornyness", with Xena chainmail on the one hand and ridiculous non-explicit true love story dialogue on the other hand. While in reality people flirt, tease, and fu*k, that are basic parts of human interactions. Now tell me how many Quests you know in cRPG where sex is a possible solution? I am not saying this should be standard, but for some characters this should be a viable way to approach things.

Indeed.  We should also be able to solve quests by texting your cousin on her birthday, singing showtunes at a karaoke bar, and scheduling meetings to discuss budget processes.  You know-- the basic parts of human interactions.
