Or have a voice actress impersonate her over radio comms to the X-Wings, or something.

I guess 2016 decided to slam the door into our collective asses as we walked into the new year.

But these same philosophers have rarely noted that the citizen in question simultaneously loses another right, one just as basic and perhaps even more vital for his conception of himself as a civilized human being: the right not to kill.”

"The chancellor, the late chancellor, was only partly correct. He was obsolete. But so is the State, the entity he worshipped. Any state, entity, or ideology becomes obsolete when it stockpiles the wrong weapons: when it captures territories, but not minds; when it enslaves millions, but convinces nobody. When it is naked, yet puts on armor and calls it faith, while in the Eyes of God it has no faith at all. Any state, any entity, any ideology that fails to recognize the worth, the dignity, the rights of Man...that state is obsolete."

I'm just bracing myself for John Carpenter, Al Pacino, Robert De Niro, Kurt Russell, Christopher Walken, Bill Murray, Chevy Chase, Dan Aykroyd, and Sigourney Weaver for 2017.

Hope her role in the upcoming Star Wars movies wasn't too big.

Think she did everything she needed for Ep 8.

when George Michael died, i told you 2016 isn't done taking famous people yet... and we still have 4 days, enough for one more

The words freedom and liberty, are diminishing the true meaning of the abstract concept they try to explain. The true nature of freedom is such, that the human mind is unable to comprehend it, so we make a cage and name it freedom in order to give a tangible meaning to what we dont understand, just as our ancestors made gods like Thor or Zeus to explain thunder.

What? You thought it was a quote from some well known wise guy from the past?

Dammit man... I thought she was on the mend. Sad news indeed.

Very sad, another very young one.

Considering the amount of drugs and alcohol she consumed, she lived a long life. Still a sad affair, RIP.

She didn't breathe for ten minutes, according to reports when it happened. It was pretty unlikely she was coming back, :(

How I have existed fills me with horror. For I have failed in everything - spelling, arithmetic, riding, tennis, golf; dancing, singing, acting; wife, mistress, whore, friend. Even cooking. And I do not excuse myself with the usual escape of 'not trying'. I tried with all my heart.

In my dreams, I am not crippled. In my dreams, I dance.

Plus no matter how many reviewers call it a "triumph of special effects" Peter Cushing in Rogue One was hideous and terrifying, smack dab in the middle of the uncanny valley, like one of those horror movie scenes where the creepy girl's face suddenly gets distorted in a jumpscare but then it's like that the entire time. Gave me the creeps.

Possibly because I'm into Special Effects too. I've seen photoreal characters that stopped being convincing when they start moving before, but even before I noticed the way he moved the first thing I noticed when he came into frame was that his skin had way too much subsurface light scattering. It gave his skin a waxy, doll-like look and especially his ears and cheekbones seemed to be glowing.

EDIT: I don't mean to disrespect the special effects people, I'm sure they moved mountains to make it look this good. I'm guessing the well-publicized reshoots screwed them over on the render times needed to make it look good.

Having her in Ep 9 as a CGI construct would be very... icky for me at least. If the character of Leia cannot be written out of the story in a suitable way then re-casting is the only way to go. It sucks but there is no good options here. That is the least bad IMO. Look, it won't come as a surprise to anyone and no matter which way they go (recast, CGI, don't make Ep 9) there will be criticism.
