They were beaten like a drum for the first two quarters, giving us 9-0, 11-0, runs to the f-----g Spurs (that's what I'm calling them from now on). you can't give away 20 points with no answer in an NBA playoff game. Yeah there were fouls that should have been called but the f-----g spurs were shooting at will in the first half and by the time the Grizz got going it was too much of a hill to climb. They have to play their starters insane minutes to have a chance because their bench is such an immense liability. Eventually their legs will just have nothing left. In other news, Houston will almost certainly win their series, but Kawhi is freakin' amazing. He's just the best basketball player on earth right now. He is by my estimation: -Third best SF, behind LeBron and KD, and just ahead of Giannis. -Second best defender between Draymond and Gobert. -Shows very little variance in team performance when he is on the court vs off the court. -The Eyeball test reveals he is a great player, but LeBron, KD, Curry, Russ, and Harden look more impressive. -Traditional stats are very good but nothing spectacular. -Advanced Metrics like him but love others more. ...Is he the best two way player? Maybe. But his defensive value is not great enough to offset the better offensive production of the other superstars when you factor everything in the aggregate. No other single player does that currently. The closest out of Lebron is Harden though it took a lot extra work, and mistakes to get to this point. With lebron, the forumla is simple. Put Lebron on a team and they ar einsta contender. take him off a team insta pretender. All these other wannabes may have flashy stats but the factsa re the facts - james makes the teamn he plays for better and the team he does't worse. Even Harden didn't do that. Keyrock Posted May 16, 2017 Share Posted May 16, 2017 It's as I thought it would be, a really tight series between the Celtics and Bullets where Washington ultimately ran out of gas down the stretch, on account of having to constantly play their starters huge minutes because their bench is so terrible. Hopefully the Celtics can take a game or two off the Cavs, though they'll obviously ultimately lose the series.
