Slack83er Posted October 9, 2016 Posted October 9, 2016 Greets! I've started a cleric of Eothas. Something just doesn't feel quite right.. When you first talk to Eder it gives you the choice to ask "who is Eothas"... what? I don't know who my god is? Some time later, Kolsc talks to you. He mentions Eothas, and Durance says something like "he was really shiny when the bomb blew him up" ... but..but.. you don't even get the chance to talk him down?? Someone is mocking my god and I don't care?? And last...done the temple of Eothas, in GIlded Vale. Maybe this is intended but... nothing comes out of it... it's just...dull... Not a thing... I pray and nothing happens, and in the whole temple there's nothing different if you're not a cleric... just the chance to forgive Wirtan.... bah.... didn't like it.. Without spoiling too much..can any of you tell me if this is all ok, or other gods get some better roleplay? I'm... doubtful.... - There are 10 types of people: those who understand binary code, and those who don't. -
White Phoenix Posted October 10, 2016 Posted October 10, 2016 (edited) I think Magran has the best roleplay. For Eder I think they changed that dialog a bit (maybe it shows only when you have both expansions or appropriate patch?). Priest of Eothas is made poorly for that game, they lack reactions when they are neeeded. There are two expections - one in vanilla POE in major side quest and one in White March expansion which has some nice impact for the plot of WM part II. Edited October 10, 2016 by White Phoenix
Slack83er Posted October 10, 2016 Author Posted October 10, 2016 Mmm i don't own the expansions so that may be the reason (even though the main game should behave fine as it is). This lack of "integration" makes me want to stop playing this kind of priest.. - There are 10 types of people: those who understand binary code, and those who don't. -
White Phoenix Posted October 10, 2016 Posted October 10, 2016 (edited) Yeah, it's no so good as it should be which is sad because of story (it fits Eothasian character indirectly). Expansions have some kind of improvement over reactivity that lacks in vanilla game (races, classes, atributtes). I can say that story fits perfectly for orlan cipher. As I said the best cleric roleplay had Magranic priest all of them. I really recommend you buying White March. You have higher level cap too, the story is better, combat is better, loot is better, everything is better there. That's only a suggestion. And roleplay Edited October 10, 2016 by White Phoenix 3
Slack83er Posted October 10, 2016 Author Posted October 10, 2016 I will, thanks! - There are 10 types of people: those who understand binary code, and those who don't. -
Ben No.3 Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 Just a question, how is Wael for RP? Never really played a wael priest for long... Everybody knows the deal is rotten Old Black Joe's still pickin' cotton For your ribbons and bows And everybody knows
Slack83er Posted October 14, 2016 Author Posted October 14, 2016 (edited) In 10+ hours of game, I've never had a Wael dialogue option. If you read my thread related to personality you should find Jojobobo's answer. It's quite...enlightening. Edit--> Other gods: Even choosing Eothas, which grants many dialogue options, doesn't make the thing more enjoyable at all. I'm not sure about Magran though.. White Phoenix Posted October 14, 2016 Posted October 14, 2016 (edited) I think there is no Wael option but some characters can react to you. I did see only dialogues for Eothas, Magran and Skaen. Didn't for Wael and Berath. But as I said there could be reactions instead. Edited October 14, 2016 by White Phoenix
Ben No.3 Posted October 14, 2016 Posted October 14, 2016 Personally, I find it, especially as a priest of wael, not all to important to constantly spread wael's message. That is because there is no message, we and our characters can not fully comprehend wael... (If you can I'm interested ). So I agree with hiravias: my character has a relationship with wael, he doesn't necessarily follow him though. And with that in mind, everything is a lot more interesting. Everybody knows the deal is rotten Old Black Joe's still pickin' cotton For your ribbons and bows And everybody knows
Slack83er Posted October 14, 2016 Author Posted October 14, 2016 Wael is.... the ungod. You're quite right about it, it's something like "the god of the unexplainable" or something very close to it. You don't question Wael, and you don't spread Wael's (non-existent) word. But I'd personally enjoy some more coherent agnostic point of views. Because, in the end, Wael holds many secrets.... which we don't know. So I'd like something like "Hey, we just cannot fathom..." or "Keep your doubts for Wael teaches us that not all can be known.." - There are 10 types of people: those who understand binary code, and those who don't. -
jsaving Posted October 18, 2016 Posted October 18, 2016 A few of the Eothas dialogue options let the player voice his belief that Eothas is still around, though no "proof" is ever provided that he actually is. *** Spoilers follow *** Some people complained about those dialogue options at launch because they felt the game presents such compelling evidence that Eothas is gone for good. After all, nearly every NPC tells you he's gone and he is also notably absent from the "constellation room" late in the game. On the other hand, Eothas is the god of rebirth/renewal so it wouldn't be hugely surprising if he somehow found a way to return. It's also worth noting that he has a very good reason to stay hidden, as several members of the pantheon participated in the divine conspiracy to destroy Eothas and most of the rest indirectly abetted the conspiracy so Thaos' secret (which Eothas' crusade threatened to expose) would remain hidden.
Boeroer Posted October 19, 2016 Posted October 19, 2016 Well - Abydon got "killed" by an ondrite meteorite and is still around - with a new body. So it's not impossible that Eothas is still out there and just needs to gather (his) scattered essence. Like Dr. Manhattan after he got disintegrated for the first time, but even slower. And maybe he needs new essence for it to happen. Too bad there's no option at the end of the game to try to channel the essence to Eothas in some way - even if it wouldn't work. 2 Deadfire Community Patch: Nexus Mods

When you first talk to Eder it gives you the choice to ask "who is Eothas"... what? Well, you don't have to click the option :D The game does sometimes feel a bit forced in its information drop dialogue options. By the time you reach Defiance Bay it feels odd that you can still ask almost everyone about the Hollowborn Plague as though your character doesn't know what it is. I guess Obsidian didn't want anyone to miss that but still... But yeah some of the unique dialogues don't quite fit. There's a similar problem where if you choose Aedyran as your background you can still ask Aloth to tell you what Aedyr is. Hopefully PoE2 will do this sort of thing a bit better. Alternatively they can use the standard "you wake up with no memory of anything" RPG start :D

JerekKruger Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 Sounds like Eothas. Perhaps in PoE2 we'll be St Waidwen Mark II 1

Urocyon Posted February 25, 2017 Posted February 25, 2017 Just a question, how is Wael for RP? Never really played a wael priest for long... The most annoying thing about Wael is deceptive is one of his favored dispositions and one of the only (if not the only) Wael quest has an unfavorable outcome if you are deceptive.
