Save games not Recognized, New saves deleted after relaunching game

tupacsnoducket

Question

So I moved to a new computer and copy pasted my save games back into the C:/Users/Saved Games folder from my file history backup. But on launching the game and loading where I left off PoE became stuck on a black screen with the hand mouse cursor still moveable, eventually it crashed and when I reloaded in all my saves were gone and continue and load were greyed out buttons. I've tried creating new games and leaving just one save file in the saved games folder, which is unsuccessful as well. When I create a new game, quit and relaunch that save is not recognized as well. I've restarted the computer and reinstalled the game and still no dice. I've been searching online but all the fixes I've found have been unsuccessful. The only thing that really stands out to me is that all the saved game files are doubled up and there's a folder within the PoE folder called '2.0 Save Games Backup' full of another round of copies of the saved games that are also doubled up. Help please i'm already like 30+ hours in and don't want to lose my Char.

Thanks for taking a look at the file, I don't know why I assumed you needed a specific app to read the .txt file, that pointed me in the right direction, I tried the antivirus off maneuver but it did not change. I think this may be the fix for a whole lot of other people that have the same problem where all troubleshooting doesn't work at all after restoring:

I restored from a windows file history backup, I copy pasted the home folders contents and replaced my existing home folder. I believe this caused a permissions error, since I technically only have read access on that folder. Once I switched off the properties in C:/Users/(username) > general tab > read only > apply button > to all enclosed folders > BAM recognized the saves

I just found the pinned post about what to supply when posting a problem, my main save game won't load as it's too large but I can put in a newly started game save that is also not recognized, but I'm also getting an error "You aren't permitted to upload this kind of file"

The forum accepts only certain files and savegames are not among them. To share them you'll need to upload through something like www.dropbox.com or www.sendspace.com.

The 2.0 folder is normal, it was probably created by patch 3.0.

At the begin of your output log there is a a message telling the access to the savegames temp folder is denied. You can try to disable the antivirus before starting the game, and re-enable it after the "Continue" and "Load" buttons are working.

The output_log also warns about 2 autosaves corrupted, you could want remove from the savegames folder this 2 files:

Tried everything. Deleted Obsidian Folder, run as Admin, start new game, paste old savegames, updated all drivers, deactivated cloud saving, switched read only, and so on. I even tried running the game with a Nexus mod, worked only 2 days. Nothing helped. I`ve been waiting for a new patch for months and nothing change about the savegames. Why cant anybody make a working patch, which stores the savegames better, why do they even get corrupted? I dont get it. What the heck, maybe the game isnt that good anyway, guess i never know.
