For me it would be more important to play StarCitizen, but ive got my pc synced with my tv, which then would cause problems, or I'll have to replace it too (meh...)

Isn't Star Citizen basically vaporware at this point

No.  Not really even close.  They've got a few modules out, and they seem to be still working on it pretty regularly.  I wouldn't expect it to drop in 2016, but delays are hardly unique in game development, and given the scope of the project, should be expected.

I've got a few kickstarted projects that are much less likely to ever ship.  The Space Quest one, Quest for Glory one, and some game by the guy who designed Civ V.  Those games look dead and are years behind schedule.  And all of those were pretty small scale games.

edit:  I haven't followed too closely, but it looks like you can already fly a ship around and shoot stuff.  No idea how good it is, but it's not vaporware.

Well, could as well say Squadron 42 instead of StarCitizen. Uses the same engine, same assets, and will take advancement of 4k resolution in exactly the same way (simply because the engine doesn't have anti alising due to the way the scene is rendered).

Sony will not allow mod support for Skyrim or FO4 on PS4 because they don't want users to do "anything they want".

No, seriously. Why the **** would they do this? Bethesda games' only redeeming quality is their moddability. Who are these people?

Probably part of the movie division.

I'd say the answer to that question is kind of like the answer to "who's the sucker in this poker game?"*

The QFG one had an update a couple weeks ago. Game has made lots of progress, but yeah, its like 2 years late for a point adventure game. Mage Initiation, the QFG style one from the guys who did all the QFG remakes was in the works for like 3 years before their kickstarter, and its like 2 years later and they announced the game is hitting Alpha soon. Honestly, I have so many games in my backlog, as long as they come out, I don't care how late they are. I think using a team based all around the world in different time zones working in their spare time is definitely not the best way to make a game though.

A bit of interesting PS4 Pro commentary.

https://seanmalstrom.wordpress.com/

TL:DR :

PS4 Pro is made to stop players migrating to the PC during the mid slump of the console generation. As you all know, the PS4 and XbOne are barely differentiated from the PC nowadays apart from being significantly weaker, so the Pro is an attempt to keep the console relevant for people looking to invest in a platform, particularly those that care about graphics and performance (who will naturally look to the PC).

Wouldn't it be significantly more expensive for people to do that regularly? One of the arguments my console-playing friends have over PC is that they don't have money to drop on regular system upgrades, but most of my PC is like 6 years old now, I just upgraded RAM and got a new GPU and HDD (admittedly, I spent way more money on that GPU than I should have, but hey. Thankfully, Intel CPUs last bloody ages, even when OCd) and the system is still reasonably relevant.

Its really hard to say whether this means new PS's and Xbox's will keep dropping every 3 years. Sony and Microsoft would love that but I don't see it working out. I also wonder whether there will be PS4Pro only releases and the backlash that will spark. Now they're saying or implying there won't be (because to admit that their PS4 players might get locked out of certain games would make people go bat****) - but one look at Nintendo releasing New3DS only games this year and you can tell which way the wind is blowing.

What your friends say was relevant 10 or more years ago. Back in the day when consoles were pushing the technological envelope and PC's were becoming outdated in little over a year of play because of how fast 3D and hardware was developing consoles were simply better value for money - to reach peak performance and keep pace was incredibly expensive with a PC.

Nowadays the consoles have become victims of their own success.  With the industry focused on making games for their underpowered hardware its trivial for a PC to keep pace money wise - you don't have to buy the best and you still get 1080p maxed out most of the time. And if you like to buy a lot of games, its even better value for money. A good PC can now easily last a whole console generation while delivering better performance and graphics. What you invest in periodic upgrades you get back with AAA games hitting the bomba bin within a month of release (whereas on the console they keep higher prices for longer).

I doubt that.  Designing and building a new console is quite expensive and hardware manufacturers often barely break even, or even take a loss, at the beginning of a console's life cycle, then make money off it later in the life cycle.  Granted, it's probably far less expensive to design what is a simple upgrade rather than a whole new console.

I think this may be a special case because the PS4 and XBone were already significantly underpowered compared to PC the day they released, whereas the PS3 and 360 were somewhat close to high end PC when they released.

I wish I could plug my ps3 to my pc to play ps3 games with the power of the pc (higher resolution) on my tv.

Games like Red Dead Redemption are unplayable for me today, because the screen is so blurry and pixelated, I can barely see anything.
