Looking for a solid 4th character (newbie)

Recommended Posts

Hi,

after the last patch I have to complete the minimum team to get at least 200 gold for a legendary mission, also... I m totally new to the game :)

So I m going after the Character add-on pack at 10.000, and I can board one last passenger before my "longest journey" :) No matter if it costs 1500 or 2000, all options opened.

My team is Merisiel, Kyra and Seoni. Very happy about Seoni you suggested, but with the patch I got less gold in the end... and the way to 10.000 gold is very long.

Can you help me to complete a solid crew? :)

Thanks in advance mates

I'd recommend Lem for just about anyone, 'cause even though you already have Arcane, Divine, and absurd Charisma, he keeps being insanely useful.

Seelah would also be a good addition, since her big power makes just about any task possible.

Others would probably recommend Harsk for his remote combat support.

"I need a lie-down" is the new "I'll be in my bunk..."

Lini and Seelah are very good characters that can shine at pretty much everything, so they can help any party. Lini is harder to play (having significant difficulty handling combat if not handled right) and really needs to level up some to really shine, so I'd advise Seelah.

But given your current party, you should seriously consider Valeros or Harsk. You don't have anyone that handles weapons well and can reliably clean house through the game (Seoni is close, but might have to burn cards to do that). Valeros is extremely good at beating things to death (high Melee and can recharge his many weapons to get plenty of dice) and jumping headlong into danger (can kill all the monsters and can bury armors in case a trap gets him), additionally he can give a strong bonus to combat to anyone at the same location, for free (and that applies regardless of how they fight, Seoni's fireball get the same support as Meri's daggers).

Harsk is a decent killer with a ranged weapon and he never has to jump headlong into danger thanks to his scouting power (it's not just to avoid nasties, you can spot the villain for a coordinated takedown or get a friend to grab an awesome boon that would have been a shame to miss). But where he really shines is support, he can give the same combat bonus as Valeros but to characters in other Locations (at the cost of recharging) and he has quite a few Blessings.

Your current team should be plenty good enough to close everything as it is, so using your fourth slot for a combat specialist who can use the card types you're neglecting is not a bad idea.

Valeros is a warmachine *.* with his weapon mastery, he is very difficult to be beaten in a session...my favourite team is valeros, ezren, meri and a jolly(a char that I want to level up)...In this way a cover all checks with STR(valeros), DEX(meri), INT(ezren) and CHA(valeros)...Usually I add kyra or seelah for DIV checks....anyway,this game is so versatile about skills, powers and game builds that pratically any formed team could be a perfect team :)

Basically there is no bad choice lol... I personally would take Harsk.  When I first got him I regretted it, thinking 'why did I ever take him?  He's so slow and useless'.  Then I saw how useful he really is and now I don't think I'm EVER going to make a party without him.

All good suggestions here, but for your specific situation I think I'd go with a Str/Melee character. This will help fill in the Strength gap in your party, and have someone who can use the cool melee weapons you'll find (Kyra, with her Melee bonus, is ok but not great here since she only has a d6 Str and needs to eventually take the weapons feat).

Valeros is a combat god, but that's all he is. It's fun bashing heads, but when it comes time to close many locations (or god forbid he runs into a Siren) it's a sad day.
Others have mentioned Seelah, and she is a good choice. She does have a melee bonus, but sadly her Str is only a d8. You also already have Divine and Charisma covered (though extra heals never hurt, especially with Seoni in your party). Still, her abilities are awesome so a worthy choice.
Finally there is Amiri. She has the highest Str in the game, with a Melee bonus to boot. I find the rest of her skills a bit lacking though. However, her movement power is invaluable on Legendary difficulty. Since you'll be trying to farm gold you'll be wanting to tackle Legendary eventually so she is definitely worth considering.

So I suggest either Amiri or Seelah (I actually replaced Valeros with Amiri in my 'main' party for Legendary runs and have been all the happier for it). However, if neither of those ladies appeals to you I will say Harsk is the character I miss most when playing with a party he is not in.

Yes, I got Selaah to save my life. Literally, unbelievable how many round already ended winning at 0 blessing in the pile!

Absolutely the most suggested choice for a new player.

Then my party miss an intelligent character .. :)

My original group was Seoni, Valeros, Merisiel and Kyra.  I took them through the story mode and was playing thorugh level 17 in Quest mode.  I swapped in Lini at some point for Kyra and love it.  Then I realized Permadeath is a bad thing.  Lost Seoni.  And Lini.   Lots of crying.  I restarted Quest mode with Amiri, Ezren, Merisiel and Lini to try something different.  I think Valeros and Amiri are about equal in my book.  I really miss Seoni's recharging spells, but Ezren with 9 spells now is convincing me I can live without it.  Lini just rocks at everything.  Tried Lem but find I like Lini a lot better.

Don't know if the OP is still looking for that 4th, but I'd vote for Lini.

Don't think its the fit for your team (Weapon skill let's you use best items), but I love Erza the wizard. When he levels up, he just blows thru spells AND draws more spells AND with Arcane Mirror (?) spell, he can take out the worst enemies w/o a scratch. On a good draw, he can empty the location in one turn!

(Augury, Det Magic, Arcane Mirror -- all seem weak, but when he draws them & recharges them a few times... WOW!)

I also like Valeros, which is who I'd take in your setup, but he isn't the same.

My part is Valeros, Erza, Merisiel, and Cleric (Sarenrae zealot).
