Question

hi guys!

im from korea and i would like to appreciate you guys for making damn nice masterpiece for crpg fans!

im here to suggest something to make convenient environment for playing POE

i feel loading is too frequent especially when its time to travel around defiance bay

it is same feeling when i entered baldurs gate

city is divided into sections and it makes too frequent loading

i had this idea for long but just now i saw bottom of my endurance and decided to write this

please imagine, i just finished clearing cliaban rilag

(loading to get out of dungeon)

walk to border

(loading to get to brackenbury)

walk to dunryd row

(loading to get into first level of dunryd row)

just walk few steps

(loading to get into second level)

talk to lady webb

walk few steps more

(loading to first level)

walk literally 5 steps

(loading to get out of house)

walk to border

(loading to first fires to see crucible knights)

walk to keep

(loading...)

this game is awesome but.

What The Hell Is This...?

i strongly suggest to make option to choose destination!

it is not difficult job because we already have this feature

remember when we cleared tower in heritage hill

cheers

Hi psyminki,

1. Try making fresh savegames (in new slots), delete or move old saves to a different directory, they have some effect on game's initial loading speed (up to the main menu).

2. Look for the IE mod, install it and use the options to disable autosaving.

3. If you have an ssd drive, install PoE there.

That's all the advice I can think of. Strangely, I've never had a problem with slow loading times, but my machine is pretty fast.

I see what you mean. For this to work, they have to be able to keep a few areas in memory at the same time. For example you enter Ondra's gift, and this automatically loads all the houses and inns into memory as well, so then you can enter them without a separate loading time for that. This would just make your initial loading time longer though, and you will end up loading stuff you won't actually need, because you won't visit every building.

From what I've heard from interviews, they were unable to keep two areas in memory with that version of the Unity engine they were using in PoE at all. Maybe it will be possible by the time they start production of PoE2, but even then preloading lots of areas is expensive on your machine, especially if they are big areas. I think the way to go is rather to cut down loading times. I don't care if there is loading often as long as it happens quick.
