US Elections 2016

The Iowa caucus (where people actually start voting) are just two weeks away. Until then this monkey poop fight will hit fever pitch. After that some of the monkeys will start dropping out. But we still have a long hard slog to November.

In the mean time here are the latest polls:

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2016/president/us/2016_republican_presidential_nomination-3823.html

&

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2016/president/us/2016_democratic_presidential_nomination-3824.html

And this was my favorite cartoon from the last monkey poop fight:

The Caucus can go **** right off....

The day after is going to be pure hell for us. Right now we're (Rental car compant in Des Moines) pulling cars from basically everyone we can to keep up with reservations, because every one and their brother is in town for the caucus (and I'm getting 18 emails a day saying "Come Caucus!" And a very amateurish Bernie Sanders volunteer), and they ALL RETURN THE SAME DAY.

Realize, this isn't 100 or even 200 cars returning in one day, that we can deal with, this is closer to 1000 vehicles being returned to a location that usually supports 750...

Also it's terrible working within 5 minutes of where everyone has their "Townhall Meetings"

I think its funny that we had our longest election in like 100 years, not quite 4 months long, and everyone complained it was too long. I can't even imagine having one like a year and a half long.

What did you think about Donald Trump?

He is a demagogue and even though I can recognize his skill in industry and business acumen he also represents the worst aspects of Capitalism

He is arrogant, dismissive. bombastic and has very little regard for the consequences of his words or views. He will be a terrible president for the USA because he will drag the USA back to an era of the " you either with us or against us "

Most of the problems the global community grapples can be resolved through dialogue and following tried and tested examples of Western ideology....this means free markets, democracies and a respect for human rights

The USA has a very important role as one of the  foundations of Western ideology and Trump will just take the West backwards if he becomes president for 4 years

So I support the Democrat view on the  way the USA should influence global events...not Trumps " lets just build a wall " comments

One thing I don't understand, Cruz was born in Canada, I thought you had to be born in the US to run for president.

No, you have to be a citizen at the time of birth, which means either you are born in the US or one of your parents were a US citizen. It only got obfuscated because some people thought Obama was born in Kenya, which wouldn't have mattered because his mother was a US citizen.

This debate needs to a touch less moderation. There's been way to many "And we're out of time, Moving on!" while the candidates are still talking and the actual debating is getting left in the dust.

Whoever can use an abacus better, that's who I'm voting for. Starting to look like Trump.

Can I ask you a question, aren't you concerned about the numerous concerning comments Trump has made about USA foreign policy and he would do things?

When all the choices are bad what does that matter? Bluster and arrogance on one hand vs. cowardice and obeisance to enemies on the other.

I don't think there is an official definition for a natural born citizen. He's a citizen by birth since his mom was a citizen so most consider that satisfactory. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong about that

There's a debate whether natural born citizen just means citizen by birth or whether the original constitutional meaning was from English common law, which supposedly meant you were born in the country with some exceptions: http://www.anncoulter.com/columns/2016-01-13.html

Jedi are obviously commies. There's even a story about the rebel alliance being based on Viet Cong.
