PLEASE make a Fallout 4 1/2

Recommended Posts

I'd rather they didn't reiterate Bethesda's "sandbox FPS/TPS" design like they did with New Vegas, but tried something different should they ever have the chance to cook up another Fallout game again.

Yes, let's go back to the time when they made isometric Fallout's.. and sold in the hundreds of thousands (like PoE). I'm sure that will happen.

Who needs millions of sales anyway?

New Vegas was way better than Fallout 3 in literally every way.

The world needs more proper Fallout games.

I definitely share your sentiment, but I feel you may be addressing the wrong people.  It's Bethesda's ZeniMax's decision whether or not to shop out a follow up to Fallout 4 to Obsidian, or any other independent developer, for that matter.

While I obviously wouldn't object to ISO/TB Fallout... you said that, not me. I only said "something else than a sandbox FPS". I also don't care for the supposed millions in sales (not my concern, I only play the games), for the worse of it, the overt struggle and need for that has only led to more and more bad games in general and a more homogenized market.

No.

Yes.

I was here holding back my gut reaction to challenge the man to fisticuffs, giving him benefit of the doubt that he meant FO3 does have nice random encounters and the exploration could be considered superior to FO:NV's even if the rest of the game is inferior...

Ha, I knew I'd found this topic here :D

Seriously though, I just wanted to thank you for Fallout:NV, it was a breath of fresh air in the world where Bethesda makes empty, god-awful and stupid Fallout games by adding guns to their Skyrim/Oblivion. F4 is by far the biggest disappointment of 2015 to me.

I really wish you could work on another Fallout title in the future.

Sick of the fps fallouts. Fallout 3 and new vegas you treaded through junk. Now fallout 4 is a junk collection scavenger simulator. I don't get what normal dude bros find so fun about this monotonous gameplay. Then again I have really high expectations for games.

Yet another thread 'preaching to the converted' crowd. I'd rather have both than one or the other. Both Fallout 3 & Fallout 4 had their strengths and weaknesses; FO4 had some mechanical improvements over FO3, but I enjoyed FO3 more. Take it for what it's worth.

Fallout 3 had Liam Neeson and Malcolm McDowell. New Vegas had ....Chandler from Friends. :p

In all seriousness though, the only area I'd genuinely mark down New Vegas on compared to Bethesda's titles is interior architecture, with some ridiculous layouts. I mean I guess you can justify some locations like vaults being confusing to navigate, but simple buildings like Elvis' house or most of the casinos are just nonsensical.

Doesn't matter about names as much as performances, Bethesda has a pattern of not using acting talent well. New Vegas is just full of talent that gave great performances. Big name actors aren't necessarily the best voice actors (or actors in general), some of the best don't really do other types of acting and most of the best have done a lot of voice acting throughout their careers. No one knows who John Doman is, but he was great as Caesar, and he was Rawls in The Wire, the best TV show ever made. New Vegas has one of the best casts in video games, Fallout 3 does not.

I'd like to see something different, like a Fallout from a supermutant perspective, or an open world setting upon a generation star ship built by scientists to escape the impending war.

Ignoring the "my taste is superior to all you plebes" subtext, while I'd like to see Fallout more exploited than it is in terms of game style and setting (I'd love for them to partner with a developer to do an isometric turn-based Fallout - maybe set it in Europe/Russia, China/Japan/Korea or Australia to keep it separate from the main series - heck I'd pledge to a kickstarter for that) I'm not sure how likely it'd be.  Even if it was something on their radar (which I doubt), I'd imagine the Bethesda higher-ups figure Wasteland 2 fills that niche of TB post-nuclear apocalypse gameplay and there's no need to deal with it.

I cannot - yet I must. How do you calculate that? At what point on the graph do "must" and "cannot" meet? Yet I must - but I cannot! ~ Ro-Man

So now that Bethesda has completely derailed the IP to absurdity, I expect Obsidian to make an actual Fallout sequel. Again. Or I hope. Please Q_Q

Bethesda's spin-offs physically hurt me!

Probably shouldn't have sprung for Fallout 4: USB Punching Glove Attachment Edition... :p
