Tower of Time on GOG for 6.29 EUR. I found a lot of you enjoying it on Steam. Can you give me in few sentences some positives and also negatives about the game? I have very big backlog, so not really to much into spending money, but this one is itching me :p

Positive:

Good battle system

RTwP

Lore heavy

exploration heavy

puzzle heavy

negative:

Your companions are predetermined, along with their skills... maybe there's a way to change the skills, but I haven't been playing this one for long.

I've seen only few let's plays, and it looked almost like True Fallout 3, but what I heard, is that dialogues are more cheesy than originals. Never playrd it, but what I've seen was not half bad.

I just bought Atom but I don't know when I'll get around to it. I have such a huge backlog because I always play the same few games over and over.

Hrm, writing is always a tough one to get over for me. I finally got into Elex lately, but man, the conversations grate on me.

I'll wait to hear from the Codex on this.

It was one of their RPGs of the year (3rd place behind Kingmaker and Kingdom Come). So maybe not as Codex approved as 2009 Codex GOTY Dragon Age: Origins, but it still gets a tick.

Well, I've bought it since it ticks every box I like...

Overly wordy nonsense, abrupt translation, or both?

I assume its the translation. I can't really judge if it is well written in the native language. Maybe it would be easier to listen to in German and then just have subtitles. I don't know, there is always a period of adjustment for me when dealing with stuff that was clearly not written in English. Good translations are not easy.

Anyone played Atom long enough to have opinion on writing? It really looks like something I want to play, but I am wary about that retro Sovietica setting. If there is something that I truly want to hate out of existence is nostalgia for Soviet times, with whitewashing, "Stalin was good guy and not a monster" and nonsense like that. I doubt GoG would accept "political disagreement" as the reason for refund, so better know beforehand.
