3D done well is good. The problem is that 3D done well is not worth the expense to the movie company because there should be no immersion breaking pop-out effects.

My brother in law has only one eye, he lost the other while in service, and apparently 3d is just a blurry mess to him. I never knew that two eyes were required to see it.

Quite an experience to live in misery isn't it? That's what it is to be married with children.

I've seen things you people can't even imagine. Pearly Kings glittering on the Elephant and Castle, Morris Men dancing 'til the last light of midsummer. I watched Druid fires burning in the ruins of Stonehenge, and Yorkshiremen gurning for prizes. All these things will be lost in time, like alopecia on a skinhead. Time for tiffin.

^weird, I would have thought wearing the glasses would have removed entirely the other image even with polarized lenses.

In fact, looking it up online, that is supposed to be what happens.

It'll look like a fuzzy mess to anyone watching it without glasses (same was true with red-green 3d) because there's nothing to cancel the double image.

I cannot - yet I must. How do you calculate that? At what point on the graph do "must" and "cannot" meet? Yet I must - but I cannot! ~ Ro-Man

Might be a leftover impression from the first time 3d came around? But he seemed quite certain.

Could be something else with his eyes than just the lack of vision in the one eye.

3D glasses make the movie darker, and a lot of movies are intentionally made dark to begin with, so I never even bother to put on the damn glasses if I am forced to watch a movie in 3D.

I don't see 3d...I see the opening in 3d and then everything just melts back in to 2d (except the subtitles). Not only that but my eyes just get tired from it. I figured that our cinemas just suck, but no, other people see it just fine...

Any of you ever try any XD theatres? I think it was developed by Cinemark originally. I had all of those problems (tired eyes, headaches, blurry vision, image darkening) until I discovered a theatre two towns over using XD format and it's removed every single one. Took my brother there who usually suffers from motion sickness from 3D movies and he had no issues either. Don't know if it'll help for you guys, but it worked for me.

No, not only do you need both eyes to see 3D but also both eyes need to be the same. The 3D effect doesn't work for me because my left eye isn't as good as my right eye. And one eye definitely doesn't work.

I watched it on Sunday in a small open air cinema underneath the Acropolis. There were hipsters and assorted cultural types in the crowd and it made the whole experience artsy surreal and a lot of fun.

Enjoyed the movie far more than I thought I would. Mind you, with all the remakes and boring stuff coming out of the movie industry, I completely ignored trailers, hype and everything and went in just thinking "Meh, lets see if they screwed this up as well." (also why I picked the specific cinema).

The film took from all Mad Max movies that had come before and did so quite well. As others say, it can't surpass what Road Warrior did. And it probably won't leave a pop culture legacy like Beyond Thunderdome's "Two men enter" quote. Seriously can't remember any quote from Fury Road whatsoever. But it is a very fun game that fits perfectly with the previous movies. And they set up a great post apocalyptic region that you'd just love encountering in Wasteland or Fallout games.

I don't see a problem with Max being elbowed aside by Furiosa. honestly, other than perhaps the first movie, I didn't feel that Mad Max films were about Max. In the Road Warrior Max was just some guy who happened to do (important) things that, grown up, the kid with the boomerang remembers. Third film wasn't all that different - and Aunty Entity was a far more memorable character in that as well.

Unobtrusively informing you about my new ebook (which you should feel free to read and shower with praise).

I didn't say (or mean to imply) you could see 3d with one eye.

What I meant was that a person with one eye, wearing polarized glasses should be able to watch an unblurry 2d version of the film. Sorry if I wasn't clear.

Do you mean an unblurry 3d instead of 2d? Because you don't need polarised glasses for 2d. If you meant 3d, then wearing polarized glasses won't do anything to make the 3d unblurry. It will still look blurry with one eye whilst wearing polarized glasses because each lens is different for each eye.

In the above link, a person with one eye is only getting half the picture and it's still blurred.

I don't know if it's because I'm using the 3d on top of my regular glasses but it's like I have to adjust a second or two every time they cut in the movie, just not enjoyable. Doesn't give me a headace, it's just not pleasant.

I haven't had problems with dizziness, but I still dislike 3D because:

  • The glasses tend to be uncomfortable, and I end up adjusting them with my fingers all the time, distracting myself from the movie.

  • When the glasses get a smudge or something on them, it sucks even more to have to look through them.

  • Scenes that zoom out very far and show a large area so that the characters become very small, can look quite grandiose and majestic in 2D -- but in 3D, I tend to experience those kinds of scenes as if I'm looking at some sort of 'model' with tiny toy people. Totally ruins the immersion.

  • The cinemas where I live charge between 40% and 90% extra for 3D shows, compared to the normal ticket price. Total rip-off.

Doesn't a 3D movie cost more to produce ?

One thing I never understood about these Mad Max movies, if gasoline is such a rare commodity, why are they driving around in these big muscle V8s with blowers and nitrous on them?

Doof Warrior, guitar guy, has become one of my favorites. There is explosions going off, bullets flying, people getting run over, cars blowing up and this dude keeps on jamming to the guitar as if nothing is happening around him. He's in his own little world.

Every fantasy universe requires some suspension of disbelief ;)

True, though it's a shame the camera never really stopped to let us get a good look at him.
