1.05 Patch Beta Live on Steam

BAdler

Question

Hey, everyone. You can find the latest patch notes here. The beta is now officially live on Steam.

IMPORTANT: One thing to note is that there is a change to the saved game system. This means that once you load the new beta up, your saves will be converted to use this new system. This will prevent them from being loaded up in an older version of the build. Before the saved game conversation takes place we make copies of your older saves and place them in a folder named "1.05 Save Games Backup" in your saved game directory. If you need to access your older saves, this is where they are located.

BAdler, any idea on when this patch will be out of beta and be officially live?

I'm kinda of hesitant to start a new party until it goes live.  And my internet connection isn't particularly lightning fast, so I'm hesitant to download the beta version now only to have to DL the official version all over again in a couple of days.

Curious minds wish to know.

Thx.

The attribute points of Companions still cannot be altered after recruitment

This is a huge concern because those attribute affect their gameplay

Can someone tell me if I am missing something?

The latest beta patch (564) is now available on Steam. Thanks for all of the hard work. We really appreciate everything you guys do for the game.

Did you roll back the Cypher nerf with this one?

I noticed my Cypher is up to full strength again.

I think Anaeme is referring to their attributes like Might, Reflex, etc.. You can't change their base attributes, you basically get them at level 1 with enough XP to level up to your PCs level, whereas before it automatically levelled them from 1 up to your PCs level. And because their base attributes are already decided before level 1, you can't alter them. It would be great if we could though - I believe this feature has been added to make the companions more viable for harder difficulties by giving you the option to change their build, and therefore also giving the option to alter their stats would feed into this.

What do you mean by "up to full strength"? Do ciphers start at 1/2 max focus at the start of the battle?

I don't think so. There was a fix to Greater Focus, though. You may be seeing that.

I can't see this happening. Letting people level them up in a specific way is much different than letting players completely reroll their companions.

Asking for companion's attributes to be changeable is absurd, they are as integral to the characters as their biographies and dialogue. Those who want to change a character that much would be better off just creating their own full party.

I agree 100%.

I will say though, that I still think that Durance should be a dwarf.  His voice and his portrait all positively scream "DWARF!!!!!" to me.  So much so that I didn't even realize that he wasn't a dwarf until far more than halfway through my first run-thru of PoE.  So I guess that I wish that he was just plain turned into a dwarf, as it doesn't seem to me that such a change could be a change to his essential character.

Would any of you guys know if the bug that increased spell count permanently on members not in the active party when transitioning from certain areas was fixed in this patch? It was the one caused by the bonus spell tier talent.

Here is the thread

QA said that this should be fixed for 1.05. Not sure if the fix is retroactive, though.

No, ingame I had a Cypher having a focus of 17 when I quit for the day. When I fired the game up again, she suddenly had 27 focus and the version number of the game had changed. So something had obviously happened.

This...

Fix to Total Max Focus stat that would reset to the base value if you had the Greater Focus talent after a save/load. This is a retroactive fix that will restore your Cipher with an extra +10 focus if you have the talent.

.... happened.  ;)
